I'm having this problem too. Mine started oh, two days ago. But I got fairly far; just past the traditional romance scene with the LI before the screen went black completely. Now nothing works.
Also, oddly enough my gamertag works for the datapad app, just not my 360.

Yup that's the gamertag bug welcome to our sad club 

Edit*  When you contact EA and they suggest you change your gamer tag name don't.  It won't effect anything that I've heard and you'll have just burned ten bucks.

And other gamertags on the same console work just fine, right? Like, I can log onto my brother's gamertag and play ME3 just fine, but if I try to switch to mine, the game locks up.
Same problem everyone else is having?

Yup just make sure to fill out a thing at the help center on origins.  There's no fix though so don't worry about mucking about with things.

Just checked the Help center on how to report a bug(I'm guessing that's what this is?)
It just said post on the forum so the admins can pass it on.
Do we just play the waiting game now?

Only thing I haven't done is call.  I've an email ticket out now and did the chat thing before.  

Nothing else we can really do?  Far as I know.

I must admit that I don't had time to read 9 pages of posts about the issue, in these days. But, if someone doesn't already told, I can try to imagine how the issue can occour. By my modest opinion, as I don't know how internally games profiles are handled, the issue seems a problemi with the EA/XBox Live gamertag bridge. As far as I know, the game searches for a EA account related to the player gamertag. If one if found, the player EA/Bioware profile is loaded. This is how Galaxy at War works. If something in the game (or maybe something in Live) broke up the information here, maybe the game can freeze at startup with this gamertag.

Just my opinion, nothing else.

At least you guys are getting info out. I hope Bioware fixes this soon. They patched the IPod game today and it says they have another update coming. Maybe they should fix this problem first

I have just started to get this problem a few hours ago. No matter what i do, i the game freezes at the start screen when i am signed into my gamertag. I had thought about maybe redownloading the EA online pass to fix it, however It is not in my download history and I don't know how else I can download it again. Even so, i still doubt that will fix this issue.

Sadly, he's right; there isn't alot we can do. It seems some gamers haven't even gotten an hour into the game before it crashed, so they've had ample time to try any and all home fixes. But Bioware does seem to be aware of this, if not a little embarresed their beta-testers didn't catch it, so hopefully we'lll get a patch or fix sometime this month. Not the best time line, but it's better than the early days when our problem was (seemingly)completely ignored.

See, the game started wigging out with the black screens completely separated from XBLA, I've never had an issue with it online, and it finally broke down after playing it offline, when it wasn't attempting to connect to the EA servers.

I look at it like EA has a 90 day warranty if it isn't fixed by end of April I'm getting a full refund from them and never buying another Bioware/EA product

My worry isn't that Bioware doesn't know. I'm sure they do, and I'm sure they're working on the bug to some degree. My worry is that they either don't know what's wrong, or worse, have no clue how to fix it.

AWW man you had me all excited for a minute there, I went into my avatar items too and found several currupted avatar items too and come to think of it I  think I unlocked an avatar award the last time I was playing before I turned off the game and lost the ability to play

(fyi i deleted the avatar items it froze, then i deleted my profile only and recovered it and it froze again so deteting the items is a good idea but not gonna get the game working, ****bioware take note I think I may have with Tombstone's help stumbled upon a possible root to the cause of the glitch****)

Last thing I did before I was unable to play (slight spoilers) was I rescued the female Krogran from the salarian homeworld. I got back on the normandy and I started interviewing all the crew members again, first the Turian general then Wrex. I didn't even get to teh security check point to leave the war room and i saved and quit and ever since I've been locked out.

Thought sharing what we all did the last time we actually got to play might help bioware track down how this glitch is happening and fix it for us faster so please share your experience

Same.  I had just rescued the female Krogan, resumed the conference, then immediately saved and quit.  Later I tried to start multiplayer when the game froze on a loading screen.  When I restarted my Xbox froze right before the title screen.

Also of note: I had recently downloaded and synced the Mass Effect Datapad app on my iPhone to Origin.  My account was also linked to the online Galaxy at War utility (http://social.biowar...play=galaxy_map).

I find it weird the datapad app works for me and my Gamertag. All the e-mails and Galactic readiness and whatnot. But the game itself refuses to acknowledge me. Very strange...

G'day everyone, i thought i would add my voice to the fray. after over 30 hours of intense gameplay, and neglect of my kids i was ready for the final mission. before i started i wanted to try out the galaxy at war, and increase my galactic readiness. after a few glorious hours i went to bed, only to find that the next day i had the black screen. been 5 days now and i am literally in withdrawals

thanks to everyone who went to such lengths to bring this to the attention of the game developers, nice work

I'd probably not be AS mad if I could jam on multiplayer but good old Gold....

Still it does bother me the complete lack of communciation.  I mean i've said this a few times but this is way behind industry norm at this point.  Any game breaking bugs will have threads up with constant updates.

The lack of CS in this to me is just astounishing.

Just looking at some of the posts on the technical issues board... i think there are a few bugs to deal with. the only one that I think is getting pretty regular updates is the Grissom Academy bug. Which has 3 times the posts. And that might have more to do with the mod who is keeping them updated rather than anything else. I do get your point though. surprised they don't have a team hired to manage this forum and keep the masses informed, even if it is just to occasionally say we are working on the problem every few hours. just look at how much this thread calmed down as soon as Chris posted a reply
