My brain... it hurts. :pinched:

What ?By posting explicit nudity and sex ?

No. By TW2's idea of "riomance". Esp. the default!Triss debacle.

I don't care about gay relationships, don't turn it into that. I'm totally fine with gay people, I have many gay friends.

And they'd be insulted that a gay relationship plays out the way it does in ME3 tbh, but thats besides the point.

As an actual gay person, I’m not at all insulted by homosexual content in Mass Effect 3.

Romance and sex in Bioware games have always been appreciated by many fans, but not because it’s done with any particular mastery ... rather because it’s there at all, to an extent that other games just don’t have. Straight relationships in these games have also always been pretty campy. And I daresay few straight people have ever felt offended, insulted etc by that.

I’ve never seen anyone complain that they’re offended as a straight person by the heavy-handed romance in any of these games. And I haven’t ever seen a gay person say they’re offended when gays show up. All I’ve seen is straight people claiming that gays feel offended, which I take issue with.

I'm not sure why people didn't like this game, it has amazing combat, the emotion behind everything that happens is simply amazing. Though I havn't finished it yet I am totally happy with what I've played so far. I am also seeing people calling ME2 mediocre? How so? I actually thought that ME2 was far better than ME1. I guess that everything is based on opinion. I for one hope Bioware keeps making games like this.

Somehow this doesn't surprise me at all. I completely lost faith in BioWare after the piece of crap that Dragon Age 2 was, and Mass Effect 3 has been the last game I'll ever pre-order from them. I'm not as disappointed as some people though. Yeah the ending was half-baked, but I wasn't as upset by Tali's lazily done face (primarily because it could be easily rectified via patching).

Mostly, yeah, BioWare has pretty much been destroyed by EA and their desire to just make money and screw everybody over in the process. As I said, last BioWare pre-order, or purchase ever probably.

My brain hurts just reading all this.

Seriously, I do have complaints about ME3's auto dialogue system. They removed so much from the ability to choose what you say and when. Plus a whole slew of other stuff that I think should have been done but won't mention it here.

Does it appeal to me, there is a part of me enjoying the game to an extent. However there is a part of me that see's femshep's walking animation and makes me cringe, or the fact that I can't choose my dialogue options and instead have to watch the cutscene or do a paragon or renegade interrupt instead of getting the dialogue wheel.

This third and final installment doesn't play much like ME1 and ME2. Though I think ME2 was the worst in the series so far, waiting to judge ME3 until the finish... This installment is quickly getting up there to where ME2 is at failure in many area's.

So right now I'm about 50/50 and who knows it might get worse from there.

I haven't finished the game yet, but I am sof ar finding the experience very enjoyable. I would say I am in your definition of the "old faithful fans" market too. But all of your classifications are pretty strange. Can I not be a fan of the new gameplay while simultaneously liking the story as an old fan?

Can't we all just be honest for a moment. ME3 is nothing more than an action game masquerading as an Action RPG.

That "can't we all just be honest" line never works, dude. People really do disagree with you about this, and calling their honesty into question isn't any way to carry on a mature discussion.

Edit: I mean, it doesn't work for actually carrying on a mature discussion. It works fine if you've already decided that the other side are all idiots anyway so there's nothing left to do but raise the snark level.

Those of you who complain about the auto dialogue system are you playing in action mode or story mode or rpg mode? I'm asking because in action mode the game automatically chooses the dialogue responses for you....

Also, in a game like The Witcher (just comparing) Geralt will often begin the conversation with an NPC by saying one thing and then Geralt will talk you through the dialogue himself - I often wished I had more say over what Geralt said in The Witcher, but the story was amazing...

From what I've seen so far ME3's seem to be either not as good as Witcher's or that the story is amazing or that the endings are either amazing or very bad. However, as fans of Bioware, we'll buy the game anyway (at least when we can afford it), so Bioware will need to market the game, ME3, to other fans that us - just to sell enough copies of the game to break even...finacially....

I'm straight, and I've been complaining about the romances from the beginning. Straight, gay, inter-species, whatever, they're all the same to me. All forced, cheesy, pretentious, laughable, and a waste of resources. Bioware cannot do romance. At all.

Don't know if that's exactly what you were talking about, but that's what I think.

Were you scared to talk to Liara? She went both ways. Her "father" was a female. It all works. I don't think Kaiden should have been gay since he wasn't in the ealier ones. People are gay sometimes so are characters. No reason to be afraid to talk to them. They have cool plots.

First of all, lore is against you. Liara is an asari, they don't have genders. So, if you play with female Shepard, it is not lesbian romance.

The lore says they're "monogendered", as in single gender, not that they don't have genders. And that gender is female. They refer to themselves in the feminine, they have goddesses, they're females. Their sex also appears to be female since they have breasts and give birth, granted through a mix of mind melding and parthenogensis, but the babies must come out of somewhere eh?

And even if you want to discount all that, if FemShep is attracted to something that sounds like a woman, has breasts and hips like a human woman, and refers to itself as female chances are she's a lesbian or bisexual.

It's a lesbian romance. Get over it. I wonder if BroShep was able to romance a member of a species that all looked, sounded, and referred to themselves as male if people would be defending it as "not gay"?

They could have, if they took more than ten minutes to write them out. Seriously; three chats and suddenly everyone wants in my pants because I'm a nice guy. There's hardly any build up at all, though ME2 was definitely going in the right direction. ME3's "Romances," are rushed, shallow, and the "Culmination," of the one I made previously felt just as bland and to be blunt, stupid.

I didn't fall for a character's personality and looks to be disappointed like that. Honestly Bioware? Thirty second *implied* sex is a "Satisfying," conclusion to you?

Well, I guess it’s one thing to complain, another thing to take them as an ”insult to your heterosexuality”. I’m guessing people don’t feel that way. Which is my point: gays don’t feel that way either, because that would just be preposterous.

Image IPB  Best. Post. Ever.

Regarding the queer friendly nature of the Normandy, I'm not noticing much other than I'd like to blow Cortez out the airlock for whining (like I booted Williams for getting on my last nerve one nerve too many) and extremely frustrated that my personal policy of boning assistants has come to a screeching halt in this game. After 6 years, it's amusing tht my biggest loss is turning out to be Kelly and her dancing pole. So to speak.

I can both understand many or the complaints as well ass tolerate what bioware has done in this game.

My main gripes are small mechanical issues, quest details, glitches, one button to rule them all etc....

But the rest can slid.
- Fewer dialouge options
- what people say are bad endings

Im fine with them this was mostly biowares ending and to make sure it ended definitively they had to lower the amount of stuff you could actually fiddle with this time around. It pains me to say it but i think that every game like ME should strip story control away from the player on the last installment.

I am a member of the fanbase.
I loved the first 95% of the game.
I now hate the series so much that I regret ever playing the first mass effect. So much time and money wasted.
I will never buy another bioware game until I have researched the endings. Spoilers would be better than dealing with such a crap ending. Frankly, I wish the game just ended with Shep and Anderson sitting back on Citadel. Ending there would have made the series palatable. Right now it is like having slept with the most beautiful and entertaining woman in the universe, only to whisper in my ear afterwards 'by the way I have aids'.

I agree! Who decides who is a fan? Who is the fanbase? Everyone who likes the game and bought it because they liked the franchise or who would like the game is a fan. Inclusivity sells and makes the normally excluded happy. Everyone wins.

Even in the RPG mode (the apparent full mode of the game) the dialogue choices are very limited compared to the previous ME games.

I don't find it that big a deal, more just disappointing.
