afaik the items you seem to have lost are still there - just the connection to your account is messed up somehow (that's an assumption based on how weapons and mods are still there if you reunlock a character). So basically they should be able to see what you've lost. THe only problem I can think of right now is that they may have to look it up for each account individually - and that's a lot of work.
the multiplayer profile saves on your pc. I doubt that they can see what items you got since its completely random, but they can see what pack you got. I think the starter pack just wipes the unlock basic like Character, Weapons and mods but doesn't erase the data where you last equiped your weapon to that char.. Hopefully they will for sure refund the people that used actual BW Points since that cost $$ and not really refund people crying over lost time...

i had almost evrything unlocked from the chars
i saw that when i RE-unlocked a char like today ( assari infiltrator he had the same colors guns ect... then when i lost him ^^ so they could just check what is not default colors ect
After that i have no clue might be more difficult than that but i do belive they will find something.. and hopefully not in 1 jahr when i will have unlucked evrything for the 2nd time resting my new stuff with the old one from release ;D
Oh and yeah maybe will get the bioware points back lol..

Maybe that makes me a spoiled brat but given the effective loss of time and money, both of which were mine, I'm... irked.

Bloody hope so. Haven't played in 10 days, as I didn't know if unlocking the stuff again would overwrite any previous unlocks or if I would get hit again by the bug.

From what information i have gathered: The way it is now: your PC downloads information from the ME Servers, Including your bioware points and credits (and any bonus packs you are eligible for). Said credits and points are displayed locally, when you choose to buy a pack, it does a local logic check to see if you have enough credits. If your local machine says you do, then it forwards the purchase request on to the ME servers, where they VERIFY that you have enough Cred/points. If you do, the ME server reduces your credits/points and sends your computer the 5 (or more) 'cards' that the server determined you drew.
Please note, there is 2 credit checks, a local one (to grey out the unavailable options) and a remote one (to verify you have credits) the remote one is the important one, otherwise, it would be a VERY simple matter to get into the ME ram and just change your credit amount. (see programs like Cheat Engine).
With this double check in place, it makes ZERO sense to just transmit back to your local pc that the credit check passed, when it could send you back the unlocks. (in fact it would be stupid to let the local PC to determine the unlocks. WAY too easy to hack.)
With this in place, Problems like not getting credit for a spectre pack. (local PC not displaying cards redeemed) Can and ARE redeemed in the following way:
Purchase spectre pack, and PC unable to display confirmation. Credits are deducted, but do to error/crash, cards are nto displayed. So, another spectre pack is purchased: Instead of 5 cards, 10 are shown. the 5 JUST unlocked, and the 5 preciously unlocked, but undisplayed.
That is KNOWN (personal experience, I fraps'd the 10 cards. I will upload later if requested.)
Now, the rest of this is speculation:
In my opinion, bioware will make a script (they already have most of it) that will cross refrence what was purchased, with what the account SHOULD have (weapons and other) that will grant the user all outstanding packs (packs that were earned, but not displayed.) In the case of cards that are already maxed, the following will happen: If the user has a Mantis IX that was relocked, and a mantis VI that is currently in use: that would normally make a mantis 15. which is above the limit of 10, so fo those cards that went over the limit, they will put them back in the 'pool' and you will get 5 cards that you have not drawn. (i.e. 5 NEW random cards) the same goes with Character unlocks.
The biggest hurdle in this is the checking of 'consumable items' i.e. medpacks, Ammo mods, etc. then they have to factor in usage.
This is a very complex problem, and i can understand the delay in creating the fixes etc. What i personally find Frustrating, is the lack of correspondence.
It may not seem like much, but once every few days update us. 'Yes, we are still working on it' or 'we encountered problems implementing this on the test database, and have to fix the problems' etc.

Thanks for the input, really wish Bioware/EA could have said that. I think most players will respect them if they are frank with us in letting us know some of the hurdles they face fixing these issues. The lack of communication is astounding.

Anyway, Since i posted, i figured i might throw in a couple Anectodal lines.
The Following is a portion of my chat with EA.:
(explains the situation of losing items)
Akash: Please give me some time to retrieve your account in our database.
info: There may be a problem communicating with Akash. Please wait while your chat is transferred to another EA Expert.
info: You are now ready to chat with Ashok..
Ashok: Thanks for contacting EA Help! My name is Ashok how may I help you?
you: what the heck?
you: i got transfered from akash to akosh?
Ashok: I am sorry however you are not transferred.
you: (copy-pasted the previous system message about your chat (being) transferred)
Ashok: Please let me know your issue.
He then proceeds to say the following:
you: When the kit re-locks gets fixed, I WILL have a Black Widow sniper rifle avaliable, right?
Ashok: It will be fixed as soon as possible and you will get it.
So, The system tells me i am being transfered, and the agent tells me i am not... Interisting.
And i got a point blank response about returns. NOW, this may be some Indian farmer inhaling smoke for my rectum. just an attempt to get me to stop bothering me, but, It was a straightforward question, and a straightforward answer. not a ton of wiggle room.
Despite my impatience, Bioware WILL make this right. it is just taking time.
They say patience is a virtue. Anyone know where to get it? Neither Amazon nor Ebay have a 'virtue' catagory...

hey either the same bug or a slightly similar one hit me and my friends on 360 tonight. we finished up a silver match and then entered the store only to find all the credits we had just earned to have disappeared. we also ended up losing our xp from the match. this happend again after we played a quick bronze match to check on things. we didnt have anything become locked out but we did find that if we had started a new character that they were deleted after the match too.
I did find after restarting my 360 that the bug didn't persist and was able to keep both Xp and Credits after a match. Hope this helps those still trying to play.
thanks for your time,
kingz
Sounds like a server connection issue. Did you try just exiting to dashboard and restarting the game, or did you HAVE to hard reboot?
Yes I did have to hard boot. I have found that any multiplayer bug requires a hard boot for 360. Although I'm not a specialist when it comes to diagnostics of 360 bugs so don't quote me, I can only give my experience.

I've stockpiled a lot of patience over the years, but I'm starting to wear thin on the blanket silence treatment Bioware's dead set on laying down. It's somewhat understandable considering the number of fires they've got burning, but no less irritating all the same. Part of being a community is not only listening to people, but speaking to them too. It's how a dialog is created, not by having one side shout endlessly with no response from the other.
Unless of course the desire is to have them become so frustrated that they give up and leave for good. Then it works perfectly!

You are now ready to chat with Abhishek.
Abhishek: Thanks for contacting EA Help! My name is Abhishek how may I help you?
you: who do I need to speak to about getting refunds?
Abhishek: Ben, Please tell me your issue ?
you: the so called "re-lock issue". i lost all my unlocks in mass effect 3 multiplayer which I had spent 2400 bioware points on and i would like them refunded
Abhishek: I apologize for the inconvenience caused. I'll do my best to address your concern.
Abhishek: Ben, could you please provide me your EA account email address ?
you: XXX.XXX@hotmail.com
Abhishek: Thank you.
Abhishek: Let me check it.
Abhishek: Thank you for waiting. I appreciate your patience.
Abhishek: I apologize for the inconvenience caused to you. This is a temporary issue and our engineers are already aware of this. They are working to resolve this as soon as possible. I would advise you to please wait for some time and then try again. If the issue persists, you can contact to me again. I will be happy to assist you.
you: can I ask why the option to buy unlock kits with bioware points is still available when there are still hundreds of people having unlocks reset each day, it would seem that ea is just digging themselves a deeper grave
Abhishek: I apologize for the disappointment caused. We are trying to resolved this issue as soon as possible.
you: how come bioware posted an update saying that the issue would be fixed by the weekend, but then the post was deleted shortly after?
Abhishek: As we are trying to resolved this issue as soon as possible.
you: ok..... is there any sort of update or ETA you can give me because these has been an issue since the release of mass effect 3 and there has been very little communication from bioware
Abhishek: I am sorry for that but there is no ETA for that. We are working hard to resolved this issue as soon as possible.
you: ok
Abhishek: Thank you for contacting EA. Is there anything else I can help you with today?
you: nothing right now
Your chat session has ended.
all I got to say is -.-

It's rare to see such a terrible customer support from such large companies, I don't think I've seen anything worse in my life before. They should be ashamed of their support staff (and even more, maybe).

Customer support dont fix the game so dont blame them, they are there to help, on this matter they just know people is fixing the bug but they dont know how long it will take.
(tbh bioware themself seem not to know how long it will take, as they posted it would been solved to this weekend, but that was message was deleted)

Customers, especially those who paid real money, deserve some kind of assurance or at least a status update and not be ignored and told off for three weeks. Bioware/EA are too lazy to do that, or they simply don't care - this is just shady to me. It feels like a slap into the face after you paid for their broken stuff.
That was my whole point, sorry if my previous post wasn't clear.

Ive been calling the ea phone support number every day to make sure I'm not forgotten. They're far better than the chat support.
Reaching my limit though. Getting close to filing a chargeback. 10 transactions works out to at least 350 dollars in fees to them I believe? Another customer told me his account got banned for doing a chargeback though. Anyone know if that's true? Wish they'd just refund the bioware points and save us both the heartache.
