In multiplayer co-op missions I am having trouble trying to figure out from where the enemy waves start pouring in. There is no radar or map to tell you from where they are coming, i just hear shooting and then run towards that direction but by the time i reach there half of the mobs are already dead or get dangerously close.

I am sure i am missing something, do i have to memorise waves spawn location or is there actually some in-game tool that lets you know from which direction the wave is coming?

Each map has a few spawn points, and they never spawn on top of your party, so that greatly narrows down the possibilities they can come from. Usually teams will bunker down at one location and people will aim at the 2 or 3 fronts that they can possibly come from.

Playing smart would say you hold that ground and let the enemies come to you, but most players in public games storm the enemies. Given that there are 4 players, chances are you won't be the first to reach the enemies. And if it is a bronze game, someone will start taking out the enemies very quickly. In the demo, my asari could headshot 4-5 enemies before reloading the Carnifex, so if they spawn on my side of the map, there isn't much left for my allies. In silver and gold, this is less of an issue because you actually have to work as a team to take out the bigger groups.
