 So I unlocked this in multiplayer recently and this weapon is a beast. I also have the widow but this blows it out of the water. It can fire 3 shots before a reload and drops most everything (cept the bigger guys) in 2 hits depending on class build. It can also fire through the balistic shields the guardians carry!

I usually get around 50-60k points a match thanks to this gun!

A few downsides though.

Its very heavy. It will usually take half of your weapon weight limit.
It does not have a lot of ammo 15 shots I believe without mods.
Upgrading it will be a pin in the ass. I only ever pulled 2 N-7 Ultra rares (They are black cards instead of gold)
Like all snipers hitting fast moving targets close to you can be very difficult.

Regardless I was very happy when this popped and is my go to weapon for a lot of the classes I play.

lol no its not i seen  few people use it and yes its heavy unless they get the decrees weight talent skill then they can lug it around but the javelin is far better then that thing will ever be yes you can fire more rounds but javelin has more damage and accuracy so no its not as rare as the javelin to my knowledge if it is that would mean i am going to get it soon

It's great when you get tossed into a game with 4 Banshees on the screen and no one else anywhere nearby >.> It's usually good when that happens though - it means you can get credits far faster than slugging through 10 waves.

I still haven't gotten a Black Widow - potentially it is the best sniper rifle in the game. However, considering you'd probably be using a Black Widow II versus a Widow X by the time you get it, the Widow X is going to out perform it in many situations.

Yes but can the widow/black widow shoot through some thin cover like the javalin can without the sniper mod to do so?

Yes, the JAvelins only perk is it highlights enemies purple including those hidden behind cover if you can shoot them, also see's through smoke, but it takes half a second to fire, it powers up first.

The Widow has armour penetration to and on silver I can knock off on average 4-5 blocks of armour/shield on Primes and Atlas

 i have the javelin II and when you put scope or any barrel above 3 you will top out the damage and  accuracy, the funny side it does loose a lot of weight on the upgrades i wonder if you upgrade to vii does it fire rate become faster

lol wrong it can actually fire thru heavy armor and can see thru buildings and if you pick armor piercing ammo3 you will be able to fire thru thick walls i can take down atlas in 2 shots on my salarian on silver its fun watching it blow up in 3 shots{ if pick disruption ammo}

also when you upgrade the rate of fire increases slightly so you will fire faster by mili second but its should be faster when you get it up to x

The only black card I don't have, and the only one I wanted.

I have the widow so I'm happy for now, killing two targets with 1 shot is always nice.

It's rather shocking when it happens because you're searching for a game and suddenly *BOOM* you're running around trying to defend an uploading transmission.

Once when that happened to me  I came in in wave 10.  talk about an easy win.

I found the BW became almost useless against geth after the recent update, Pyros, Hunters and Rocketeers all take 2-3 headshots to kill now.

Coincidentally, I do have a BW II and a Widow X. I prefer the Widow because I'm just more used to dropping targets with a single shot then reloading, but that's just my own mental limiter, BW is probably a better weapon.

Also, you're correct that you'd probably max out Widow long before you get even a BW II.

Yeah after playing silver with a friend against the reapers with his BW taking more than three shots to take down enemies I'm going to take vote that the Widow is still the better overall option.

I got lucky and got a Black Widow in my first spectre pack (had some spare bw points from buying ME2 DLC).

The BW versus the Widow on gold starts to depend more on player skill. If you're extremely fast and consistant with headshots, the BW outshines on small enemies. It was said you could get two shots out of cloak if you're fast which is wrong. Two shots is easy, it's three shots if you're fast, 3 shots and energy drain if you time it right. I've also tested the Widow X versus the BW I on Gold Primes and the BW won almost every time. So yeah, again if you have issues with your headshot consistency, the Widow will definitely shine more.
