 I have been trying to connect with my Origin friends to play the Multiplayer in a private lobby. At first this consisted of simply pushing the "Invite Friend" button clicking on their name in the origin friends list then "invite". This led to them and me (when he tried to invite) Selecting a character, going to the main multiplayer screen, and proceeding to "join game" however it would never actually send either of us to the game lobby and restarting the game was the only way to solve. Due to that not working, we attempted something else. I made a "public" lobby with dagger, geth, gold (no one plays gold yet anyways). and had him quick match for dagger, geth, gold. Nothing would ever pop up. some others would join but never would my friend. THE INSTANT i left from that lobby my friend would load into that lobby with the exact same people. We tested this about 4 more times with the same result. Is there any possibility of a fix? or is it too much to ask for "invite friends" to work?

tl;dr invite friends is ****ed up.

Bioware, please respond. Is a patch being worked on? I have heard the following rumours as fixed but they don't
a) opening a bazillion number of UDP and TCP ports on the router (some posts suggest port HTTP 80 and 443 LOL)
There is a difference between some game versions which is the cause.

I also have this problem as of 3/19/12. I played just fine with my friend the night before on a different computer on a different network, but am now unable to join games with my friend since I have returned to my campus network. I can join quick matches without any problem, and have played several games successfully. I cannot, however, join my friend's game via invites, nor can he join me if I invite him. The symptoms are the same as those listed above by other posters. Accepting the invite leads to the character select screen, and then an infinite "Joining..." screen. I have noticed that in the top left corner it says "communicating...", but that comes and goes. It is possible to get out of this infinite loading screen without closing the program if you bring up Origin and accept the invite (or a different invite) again. My friend has attempted to follow me into quick match games with the "Join" option from Origin, but so far he hasn't been able to make it into a lobby before it fills up. I have tried turning off my software firewall with no effect, and I cannot mess with port settings since I am on a campus network that I do not control.

I have the same issue here. And some acknowledgement of the issue would be nice. I know customer service is becoming a quaint idea but I paid 80 bucks for this game and I kinda expected all of it to function properly.

Preaching to the choir man... i reinstalled it 3 times (internet download evrytime ofc) then fiddled with the dll files still didnt work.After i put a crack on it... it works so basicly customer support to these guys is just a inside joke or sumthing.

I've just had the same problem appearing yesterday (5th of April), worked fine before that.
Now when I invite a friend, they just hang on the joining game screen.

If I try to join, instead of going straight to the lobby, the character selection screen comes up (which seems like a bug), after selecting a character, it would also hang at 'joining game'.

Thad'd be good. Yesterday spent the whole evening, trying to play with friends. We ended up sending invitations to each other in a random game. It worked 2-3 times out of 10. Kinda sucks, when you spend 30 minutes to connect and 20 minutes to play...

Lucky you I haven't been able to play with Friends since demo in January ever since launch I've had this problem

Same problem here. Can host games, can join quick matches, but can't seem to invite my friends, or join their games... =[
