I am on  a different computer right now, so I don't recall exactly the error but I would try to start the game, it would act like it was loading, screen would turn black, then pop up window that Mass Effect has closed and something about it looking for a solution or something like that. Every single time.

So I opened Origin, there is either a settings symbol or the word setting (sorry, like I said I am not upstairs) and I clicked it and then found the spot that you can uncheck so that Origin doesn't access your games while you are playing it. I unchecked it, and the game works perfectly.

Easy fix, but if you don't know to try it - you won't find it.

Hope this helps someone. If it works for you let others know and if you need a better explanation just tell me and I will go check exactly.

Didn't do anything for me. It might be because you had already got past the 'Release Date Check' so not allowing Origin in your game doesn't even matter.
