During your first conversation with Liara in her office, she does not recall your reunion with her in LotSB. Instead, she says that "it has been years" since your romance. Her writer confimed that this is a bug.

This may contain what could be considered mild spoilers for how Liara's romance works, if that's something you want to discover for yourself. I'm not spoiling content, I just wanted to clarify how it functions because it sounds like there's some confusion. Leaving a little spoiler space just in case.

Spoilers question:

Did anyone else have Liara say something about "not being together for years", dispite having played the LotSB DLC and reconnecting during the Normandy scene 6 months ago?

I belive she was supposed to mention something about the tour on the Normandy....

Could it possibly be because my acheavements were reset (in ME2) after I reformatted my computer to windows 7?

Is this a bug?

I think there's a bug with the LotSB import flags.

I've noticed some weird things with Liara regarding romance later on too.

Like later on:

*spoiler*

Liara mentions that Shep is a good friend and Shep's like, 'I want to be more than friends.' and I was like wtf I thought you two already were officially 'together'.

For the record, the latter's not a bug. You can still decide to be with someone else up until that point (even if you tell Liara you want to rekindle your relationship in that first conversation in her office...) so we needed a way to definitively communicate to the player "OK, listen, this is absolutely it for choosing your one true romance". I went for the most obvious paraphrase possible to avoid any confusion over whether this was the moment you became a serious, together-forever item.

The former problem, Liara saying it's been years since she saw you instead of mentioing how she visited you in LotSB... I'm afraid that does sounds like a bug. The problem didn't appear during testing and I'm not sure why it's popping up now, but it looks like the game isn't recognizing that you had an intimate moment with Liara onboard the Normandy in LotSB. My sincerest apologies for that.

Yep, same bug here. My maleShep soldier romanced Liara and remained loyal in ME2, also rekindled at the end of LotSB and got that comment about it being "years" since they were together.

This.

She doesn't make reference to the Catching up mission/achievement at all. Whether romanced or not, she acts as if she hasn't seen Shepard in years.

Bioware, when you start working on patch one, please include a fix for dialogue references! Liara should be ale to distinguish between a Shepard who romanced her in ME2 and one who did not! Aethyta should also be able to tell if Shepard is NOT in a relationship with Liara. A few people have complained about that on the forums as well.

Also, a patch to include a non-Deus Ex ending for Shepard and co. would be nice (hey a girl can dream, right?)

Is this the only time the romance is bugged? I'm not that far into the game yet, but on Mars the romance seemed to have carried over fine.

*worried* :-/

It's hard to tell...it's the only obvious one...there could be things missing that are hard to notice with context.

I finished the game and the bug didn't prevent me from getting the final romance scenes with Liara if that makes you feel better.

Yes ive had this problem.

This reminds me of the Condrad Verner glitch in ME2 on Illium.

The problem with that, it turned out, was that BOTH import flags were active and trying to overwrite eachother. In the end the renegade-styled conversation for Conrad overwrote the Paragon version as default.

My theory is that perhaps this is a similar situation.

Bioware, if your looking for possible fixes to the bug, look at the import flags and make sure none are overwriting eachother.

Otherwise the only way to fix would be a save game editor. (if it is like i suspect)

Ty

PS. I would like to add that I am useing the PC version of the game.

It happened to me as well =< True, it's not that big a bug, not compared to being unable to import your face, but it's still kinda sad. Here's hoping that it'll get fixed in the future. And here's double hoping, though I know it's in vain, that it'll be fixed in the Near future.

And the writer thinks the odds of a patch are not good.

Sylvf wrote...
I'd love to get a fix bundled into a patch, but I'm afraid I can't promise anything. If Liara reacts properly in her investigate hub - the conversation with repeatable questions - to whether or not you completed Shadow Broker, the initial line is a one-time thing and much less likely to get targetted in a patch.

So that's great. Dialogue in the game that we'll never hear. Awesome.

Oh great, and it's little things like that that break immersion.

You know... for those of us who romanced her in ME1, stayed faithful, then reconnected with her in Lair... to have Bioware tell us they won't fix this... man that is a slap in the face as far as I am concerned.

I noticed the "It's been years" thing too, but that was really the only bug I came across. I thought it was a little odd when she said that but, I just thought maybe more time had passed than I'd thought.

(I also would be up for a "non Dues Ex" ending too just to make me feel better, though I still think the endings were pretty powerful, won't say any more to avoid spoilers)

The romance seemed to carry over fine. Just the wrong line delivery on board ship. Apparently if you reply appropriately it activates the same variable that would be active if you'd romanced her again in LOTSB, which BTW I did in every play through except the one I'm doing now -- I didn't have LOTSB for it.

So hang on, does this bug only affect the dialog? Or is it the whole relationship? I romanced her in ME1, ME2 LOTSB as well.

Supposedly only the initial dialog. But being called friend for nearly half the game when we got back together at the end of LotSB is really the frakking pits. I shouldn't have to go through all that again just for new players who want to romance her. Once back together we shouldn't be staying in different quarters, and we dang sure shouldn't refer to each other as friend during several more intimate moments when two people in love would not say the same things they do in the game. That's just me I guess. Hopeless romantic and all.

I guess I also don't understand why he/she would even put that in the game. Obviously if the player reconnected with Liara during and after LotSB they want to be together with her. Why do something as silly as what he explains. It's only been six months from LotSB... I'm thinking they aren't going to have gotten tired with each other in that time. Doesn't make any sense to me.

Well if it's just an import problem maybe we can use a save editor to fix the problem.

The other thing I would like to know is does this happen to everyone that romanced her?
