I received my Collector's Edition copy of Mass Effect 3 yesterday. However, my 360 slim was being sluggish and freezing in the process of attempting to start up and update the game. So I gave Microsoft tech support a call and the man I spoke to had me perform a series of tests to determine whether the hard drive was corrupt. During this process of removing and inserting the hard drive he had me test out a game to check for a difference in performance. So I inserted Mass Effect 3. At no point was I instructed to remove the disc before powering down the console and removing the hard drive. And after turning off the console and turning it over to remove the hard drive, I heard a loud noise from inside the system. I replaced the console and opened the disc drive to find Mass Effect 3 in the far back of it, barely reachable. And once removed it was covered in scratches and completely unreadable. I called back later about this incident and was told by a supervisor that the type of scratches the disc received could not possibly have been created while this Xbox was off. Therefore, he refused to replace the disc. I, being there when it happened, am well aware that the Xbox was powered off at the time and that the disc went in unscathed and came out a wreck. But apparently the customer does not receive the benefit of the doubt when it comes to Microsoft. What would be the best way of going about receiving a replacement? Would EA send one? Even if it wasn't free. I don't mind paying a reduced price, but I've already purchased the license.

As with anyone trying for a disc replacement you'd have to look in the back of the manual for details and that's even assuming (1) it is available in your region, (2) stock levels, and (3) whether they would. No harm in trying.

Though it puzzles me why you're posting this in the ME2 tech boards, and what you mean by 'license'. (Superfluous questions, they just puzzle me.)
