Hey everyone. Now I'm going to start ME3 tomorrow and a friend told me some of the decissions you make in the Bringing Down the Sky DLC have an impact in the game so I'm considering playing it since it is only 80 Microsoft Points (I never got it originally because I didn't want to pay 400).
But here is my question: Would going back and finishing it confuse my transfer file for ME3? And is it stand alone or do I have to go back before the final mission and beat it, and then repeat the final mission in the same exact way I did on my file transfer file (which is kind of tedious)? Thanks everyone! I would totally play it but I don't want to confuse the save transfer system.

Unlike in ME2 which allows you to "free roam" as long as you like after the main storyline is completed, you can't do this in ME1. The only way to play it is to start a new game or to load up a save file at a point where you still have access to the galaxy map and can travel freely from planet to planet.

... you do know Bring Down The Sky is DLC for ME1, not ME2, right? Your OP kinda implied you'd got this confused.
Basically if you wanted to include it, you'd need to go back to an ME1 save before the final mission, do it, then do the final mission, import that save into ME2, and THEN play the whole of ME2 again from that save file...
If it's any consolation, I'm in the same boat. Pretty annoyed I missed out on BDTS (I did try but had technical issues). But while I'm counting down the hours for ME3, I'll be damned if I'll put it off until I've done another ME2 runthrough.

No I know it was only in the first one. I just didn't know if it was stand alone (like the Missing Link for Deus Ex for example) or not. Yeah, If I have to beat it and ME2 again, I guess I will have to sit this one out. That's really too bad!

I know there has been a lot of posts on this topic, but all of the ones I've seen so far have not mentioned my current situation and so I hope this post will help me find the answers I'm seeking.....I got Mass Effect from Steam and in the Mass Effect purchase it included Bring Down the Sky as a free DLC, I've now played through a bit of the game picked up Liara and done a lot of the side missions then looked to do the Bring Down the Sky DLC before going on to Noveria or Feros and it's not showing up in the Exodus Cluster and I was wondering if I'm missing something or that I've done to much of the game and lost access to the DLC and need to re start or to contact Steam and EA and ask for assistance.
Thanks

As far as I know the Steam purchase does not come with Bring Down the Sky. I think where they say it's "included" they just mean you don't have to pay extra to download it, so included in the price rather than the actual content included in the download. Meaningless since BDtS was free DLC anyway. Bottom line, you have to download it from Bioware, and these days you have to contact EA for an activation code. That last part wasn't the case a few months ago but seems to be now. I guess I snuck in right before they changed things to make getting and using their free DLC more difficult (why, EA, why do you do this s**t?). Worth it, though. It's a good mission.

If it is installed properly, Asteroid X57 will be indicated automatically at the top-level galaxy map, just like Noveria and Feros. I installed from the .exe using the CD key from the help.ea.com site just last week, on top of my Origin ME1; worked fine. Played the mission this morning, in fact.
