Harbinger wasn't he a bit downplayed in ME3? 
Did we even fight him? I actually can't recall if he was destroyed in one of the cinematics.

I'm pretty sure his entire appearance was a throwaway "Harbinger is attacking!" moment that never went anywhere.

The reaper on the Quarian homeworld tells Shepard that "Harbinger speaks of you". That was the only time he was mentioned, aside from some reminiscing amongst the Normandy's crew.

I kind of forgot about him TBH lol just speculation.

He split off to attack Hammer and then... nothing happened to him? I guess he was killed/taken control of with the rest of the Reapers?

Yeah, seems a bit anti-climatic after everything that happened with him in ME2.

This is true, he does get a second cameo appearance in the Control ending with his new blue glowy eyes instead of his yellow ones as he is passing by the Citadel.

Which is a total LOAD. He was the main antagonist of ME2 with the wittiest corny lines that can put any Galactic Overlord to shame:

"YOU FEEL THIS"
"I WILL DIRECT THIS PERSONALLY"
and who can forget the golden gem?
" I AM ASSUMING CONTROL DIRECTLY"

But to give the obvious answer, he's being saved for the final ME3 DLC, along with the Collectors and the big, shock plot twist that leads us into ME4.  2400MS.

Harbinger left his SP career to focus on his MP career and got the lead part in an MP trailer.
