Salarian Engineer Decoy Explosion.

I really love this class, but theres is just onr thing lacking.

Decoy Rank 6.

Decoy explodes on destruction, causing 360 damage across 4 meters.

The only problem is that the explosion only accurs when the time runs out or it gets destroyed. The explosion hardly ever happens since you have to keep recalling the Decoy to different areas, and enemies are never near it.

My suggestion is if we can detonate the decoy ourselves. The explosion will become more tactical and usefull.

The Drone explodes everytime you call another one, why cant the decoy explode when you call another one?

It would be very happy with one of these 2 outcomes..

1. The Decoy explodes when you call another one, similar to the Drone.

2. The Decoy explodes when you hit ability again, but the cooldown restarts before you can call the decoy again similar to the sentinals shield detonation.

What do you guys think?

I might actually reroll my Salarian Engy. The decoy on paper sounds nice but I too have found that its rarely any enemies near it when it does explode. I wish they could make it like the drone where as, if you target an enemy and spawn the drone, it tends to spawn very close if not, next to the enemy your targeted.

The Decoy also have very limited range which appears to be about 15 feet in fron of you, and it doesnt move but mimmicks your exact movements. I found that I have confused my teamates with the decoy more than the enemy itself. Lol

lol ya. also, i dont know if its just me, but the brutes, atlas, and those bugs with the red ballons on thier stomach dont go for the decoy :(

Yeah, it seems pretty clear that Energy Drain is the go-to power for this guy. Since I can't make it appear wherever I want like the Drone, the only time I really get use out of the Decoy is when I abandon a position.

With the damage reduction buff to Energy Drain, you end up with a Turian Sentinel with a slightly smaller damage capacity when fighting Geth. However, it can spam powers, recharge shields and explode tech combos. I'll take that trade.

The only reason you don't see this guy more is that Sabotage is insanely broken against the Geth right now.

decoy is not that helpful, since enemy usually keep shooting at you leaving the decoy alone...

It works like Cloak: if the enemy see you activate it (a hologram appearing from nowhere) then they know it's not real and ignore it.  If you cast it around a corner where they can't see, they'll not have that info and it'll work.

I played with a, I think it might have been a Turian Sentinel, but he had enough sense to drop a Proximity Mine on top of my Decoy. Fun times when that Phantom tried to insta-kill the Decoy.

Decoy seems to work very well at its main task of being a decoy. I've also noticed that even though it's supposed to have shields, I don't recall it ever being destroyed by an enemy. At least, not while I was watching. Which seems to make it somewhat pointless right now to increase its shields instead of duration.

How would it be abusable? It would function exactly like a Tech Armor detonation...you toss up your decoy where you want it, and choose to detonate by pressing the same button, at which point your cooldown resets.

But yes...im LOVING the Salarian Engineer. That Energy Drain is crazy useful against shields, then you have INcinerate for Armor, and the almighty decoy. This is probably my second favorite class behind Asari Adept

Feeling the need too. An active decoy should explode the moment you set another decoy (limit to rank 6?) and still explode on a timeout.

I like the explode idea. I am a much weaker engineer when I roll with the salarian as energy drain just isn't enough of a power to counter having overload, incinerate, and drone for my female human.

It wont be abused, there is no such thing since the explosion damage isnt that strong. The decoy explosion spec should be effective.
Also if a player invests in the ability, spending thier points in it, then it should be good.

I just skipped the decoy on my Salarian engineer and maxed the other skills. I don't think I regret it at all.

Its not that I want it for damage, its just for a rank 6 spec I would expect it to be good. Instead the exosion rarely hits anyone, and doesnt even explode when you recall it like the
drone.

The damage theoretically is worth it if your team is playing for an aoe damage clear, although unless that's the goal I don't see why you would want more than 3 ranks in it max.

It is already a good power MatyrGustav. Atlas', Banshee's, Primes, etc... all get busy with it. Everything. They're kinda OP if you ask me. A melee'd decoy should disappear in my opinion.

And I understand what you are saying (now). For a rank 6 choice, you say it is a weak one. Understandable.

Can you guys explain how you use the decoy? I've read that some people didn't find it effective so I haven't put any points in it yet. What is your strategy with this? How do you use it correctly?
