Can you guys explain how you use the decoy? I've read that some people didn't find it effective so I haven't put any points in it yet. What is your strategy with this? How do you use it correctly?

I like using it as a road block for enemies in hallways lol, thats why i want the explosion to be a bit better.

This is what I use it for, and I actually find it quite helpful as such.  (Strange that a "Decoy" seems far better for helping me to hold a position than something like, say, a Quarian Sentry Turret that seems to goes down in just a few shots from an enemy... but I digress.)

The Decoy definitely seems at its best when it's used to soak up a lot of damage.  It really does provide a nice distraction for enemies, but maybe if an exploding Decoy just had a much larger radius and perhaps some sort of additional side effect like, say, extra damage to enemy shields or somesuch, it'd seem more worth the points.  Really, I feel that way about a lot of the ability upgrades in the game.

Having used it a fair bit now, I feel like the shock & explosion perks for the decoy are more to allow a secondary functionality than to bolster it's primary one: if you want a decoy, put it down out-of-sight and it'll act as a road-block / distract enemies. OR, when you're up close to the enemy, just dump a decoy right on top of them. It'll start shocking them, they'll kill it, it'll explode.

I really love this class, but theres is just onr thing lacking.

Decoy Rank 6.

Decoy explodes on destruction, causing 360 damage across 4 meters.

The only problem is that the explosion only accurs when the time runs out or it gets destroyed. The explosion hardly ever happens since you have to keep recalling the Decoy to different areas, and enemies are never near it.

My suggestion is if we can detonate the decoy ourselves. The explosion will become more tactical and usefull.

The Drone explodes everytime you call another one, why cant the decoy explode when you call another one?

It would be very happy with one of these 2 outcomes..

1. The Decoy explodes when you call another one, similar to the Drone.

2. The Decoy explodes when you hit ability again, but the cooldown restarts before you can call the decoy again similar to the sentinals shield detonation.

What do you guys think?

Yeah, it's the same problem with the Singularity explosion upgrade when it collapses on itself. It takes such a long time for it to collapse that you will have thrown another one and canceled your previous singularity (thus no explosion).

IMO Decoy is one of the top 5 skills to have. If you think it's bad.. it's because you just don't know how to use it. A solid salarian engineer who knows how to use it can hold off an entire flank by himself or bottleneck and lure enemies so that your teammates can mow down packs. Easily the best support class in MP. So far I have about a 90% win chance when playing the engineer. However... it can get boring pretty quick.

When you build an engineer maximize energy drain with increased radius, damage, and increased shield restoration. This is your bread and butter ability with low recharge, mediocre damage, and great utility this can make you tankier than even soldiers.. but not invincible.

Take decoy with durability, shock, and exploding decoy. This way you have a stationary AoE power that can stun and knockback and if they do manage to kill it, the explosion is a nice extra surprise. The already low CD makes it easily spammable and about 70% of attacks pass through it so it can actually take alot of punishment. For best effect usage place the decoy either out in the open with you behind cover or just ahead of a corner.

Also take incinerate to help deal damage against specials. Spamming incinerate on specials does way more damage than shooting it with your pistol. =p

Use a low weight shotgun like disciple and a low weight smg for weapons or if your lucky a carnifex/paladin.

I think it's fine. If you are holding a choke or have a group of people beating on the decoy, it will explode and then you can just make another. I guess I wouldn't mind if it blew up more often also, but I am not bothered by letting it die the natural way.
