I am one of the weird idiots that like the ending and the debate it sparked. I do, however, feel they need to redo it and somehow fill in the myriad of plot holes. At the end of the day, though, I treat the Mass Effect universe as an interactive story. No, we didn't receive the ending we had hoped for, but we're not the ones writing this story.

That said, I'm wiping my hands clean of Bioware anyway. I strongly feel they're becoming slaves to the EA machine (having typed this, I'm sure it's going to be deleted), and as we get further and further into the Bioware / EA saga, I don't feel like a customer that is cared about in the eyes of either company. No gaming studio has made me feel like "Wallet #XYZ" than has EA / Bioware.

I'm not buying another Bioware game because of those reasons, not because I detested the ending.

I will not be purchasing another Bioware game unless they either patch the endings to ME3 or give away a free DLC to fix the endings. The endings to ME3 destroy any replay value to the game and I have 9 characters that I could import from ME1/ME2 playthroughs.

Add me to this list. I see absolutely no reason I should give Bioware another cent (through DLC or through game purchases) until they show me they can competently end a trilogy.

I was introduced to Bioware by ME1. Fell in love, purchased ME1 and ME2 (plus a chunk of DLC), DA:O and DA2, and sadly SWTOR.

After ME3...I highly doubt I'll trust Bioware with my wallet or heart again. I felt like there was a sharp decline after ME1, with each game I played after just being a little worse. I tolerated it, but after playing the Witcher 2 I realized what it was like again to play a game with AMAZING graphics that rarely glitch and a story that really changes with the choices you make and can give you a variety of endings.

Lost interest in the DA universe after DA2. I was going to try and renew my enthusiasm for it if ME3 turn out to be super awesome. Which it was...before the last ten minutes flushed it all down the toilet.

So I have no hope for DA3. SWTOR is meh. And the entire ME3 trilogy is now ruined by its ending. Sorry, but I don't have no confidence in Bioware anymore.

...Unless they realize their mistake, suck it up, and patch in some real endings. Definitely would show that BW *does* care about its fanbase. It would also show that they care enough about their own work to admit that they messed up and actually do something about it. It sure would bring me back. Just sayin...

Not so sure. I'll definitely be hesitant...especially if they DON'T address these bad endings in an apology or makeup DLC.

Sorry, but they took something grand and moving and then turned it into a ham-handed "choose your own adventure in misery and suck" dues ex machina outhouse. I'm not saying I'll never buy bioware again.. but I'll look closely at who's writing, producing and developing, and I'll not be pre-ordering, or even purchasing until I see enough evidence that they didn't botch it the way they did the ending to ME3. If it was a mediocre game, it wouldn't be a big deal. But there was
So.
Much.
Potential.

Well, this was definitely a disaster. The writing was already on the wall after the horrible DA2 endgame completely crushed what was already a mediocre experience. With ME3 I was pretty much ready to complete Shep's duty and move on with my life.

Didn't really get that satisfaction. So no, at this point I know better than to become invested in any of BW's properties.

Honestly I wouldnt invest my time and emotion into another game series by them. How could I trust them to give me a real conclusion after this?

Wait til it comes out, check the threads to see if it's "Oh, God, they didn't learn from how they ruined ME3" or "Hey! Finally! They got their mojo back and did this one right.  Of course, that means no pre-ordering or buying until it's out a few weeks at least.

I was so looking forward to this game I took a vacation day with the intention of nerding out with ME3... but I think I'll just do some writing for a half day and then go to work.

No even if they do it right the next time around i would still not unless the endings are fixed. Why? Because the fans cried out, we asked, we begged, we pleaded. Yes some of us were crass and insulting, but its a forum, what do you expect. Still the fans wanted this fix so badly, and if it never comes, that just proves to me they really don't care about us and EA has stolen their souls and its all about the $$... and i cannot support that

Unless they fix these endings, I won't be buying anything new from Bioware anymore. I'll just buy their games used and i could care less about online passes. Don't need em.

I trusted Bioware. I loved their games, I invested years of my life into following their stories. And this is how they repay us?

Unless they do some DLC or something to fix this atrocity, I am done with them. How could I trust them to write a story that I want to read anymore? Dragon Age 2 wasn't good, but this is just beyond anything I can cope with.

I probably won't be purchasing another Bioware game, to be honest. Their last 3 games have consistently disappointed me (Dragon Age 2, Star Wars: The Old Republic, and now Mass Effect 3 (which I LOVED up until the ending)). So unless their next game is amazing I might just pass, Bioware has lost much of their luster with me, I used to see them as the "Pixar" of the game world who could do no wrong but they've been providing that wrong recently =/

So is everyone just mad because Shepard can't live happily ever after or what?

No, because the endings all boil down to picking 1 of 3 flavors of a plot device, and none of your choices through the series really matter.  It's dead puppies, dead kittens, or an Uwe Boll  movie.

I thought the point of the series was to put an end to the Reaper threat? End the cycle of extinction. They seemed to do that. Even in the first game, Shepard says the reaper fleet is coming and I'm going to find a way to stop them. Well he did end the cycle.

It's kind of hard to take all 1000s of choices and try to make an ending out of that.

Yeah, but they could have worked in some endings that weren't the same stock piece of suck, simply viewed from 3 angles.  Conventional endings instead of "Oh, he was an angel all along..." plot devices are the difference between quality and phoning it in.

Ok, the more I think about it, the more I gotta admit, I'd have trouble buying chocolate covered gogo dancers from bioware if they didn't come out with some quality, free DLC that provides some endings to this game that make it worth playing.  I mean, they didn't just kill the replayability of ME3, but one and two along with it.

I am going to completely honest and candid with you all. Tuesday evening my Grandmother had to be rushed to the hospital. I dove right in to ME3 purely for the escapism, I was having my midterms, and I didn't need the stress of my only living grandparent in the hospital weighing on me. I studied and played ME3.

While Mass Effect was a dark universe it was also a hopeful one, where heroes could actively make a difference. When for squadmates died, I may have teared up but it didn't bother me. Their deaths were noble and heroic, deserving of their characters.

Then I got to the end and I bawled my eyes out.

I didn't weep because it was meaningful (they weren't). Or that Shepards death was noble. I wept because I was overwhelmed by hopelessness. No matter Shepard's path the choices he faced were just so hopeless with no possibility of a sliver of happiness for my avatar in this world.

I was struck by the fact that no matter what he did, how much he had endured, all of Shepards fates were terrible. Either dead or separated from his friends and loved ones.

I wept because I was overwhelmed by the fact that if a g*d d**n video game character can't hope for a brighter future then what is the farking point?

There was nothing redeeming about this games ending. You sacrifice your life (control) or commit multiple acts of genocide (destroy)(Reaper, Geth, and probably Quarians). Synthesis is equally terrible for its numerous philosophical complications.

This game made me hopeless. I doubt I will buy another Bioware game in the future.
