I've been having a problem with this mission.  When the game starts to play the opening cinematic, there's a short pause in the animation right after it starts.  Voices go silent after the first spoken line.  When the cinematic ends, everything goes black.  I hear gunfire when I press the left mouse button, but am unable to see anything.  I then go to the menu, at which point the game crashes.

I tried mixing up the crew members involved, but ended up with the same problem each time.  Has anyone had similar problems and any luck fixing it?  For what it's worth, I'm playing an imported character who saved the rachni queen in ME1.  Thank you.

Might try changing your graphics settings? Also might post your DXDIAG data for the more tech savvy among us to have a look at (which is not me LOL), plus if Bioware responds to this thread, that's usually the first thing they'll ask you for. (Run dxdiag from your start menu, then hit "Save all information" and cut/paste the data here. Don't worry, there's no data in that file that hackers can do anything with)

Has anybody else had this problem? I haven't been able to find mention of it anywhere.

I've encountered this exact same problem too. Someone else posted a new topic about this on the forum as well. I haven't been able to find a solution yet, but if I do I'll let you know.

HMmm... from what you posted I don't see any glaring problems... although it COULD be two things (or not). 1, though Windows XP SP3 is minimum, it's not ideal so that could be causing a bit of issue. Might try running the Compatibility Mode Wizard, see if it notices anything.

Second, and odds are this isn't much of an issue nowadays with the Intel processors, but there is still a very small chance your problem could be you are on a Mac. As I said, I don't THINK this is your problem, but it still bears mentioning for the small chance of it.

Oh and also might check your Nvidia settings. Maybe drop each thing down to it's minimum settings and try it... if it works then one by one move things up level by level and try the game again until the problem returns.  Will take awhile, but if it works it will tell you where your problems are.

Pardon my ignorance, but I'm not totally sure how to access the Nvidia settings. I went to the control panels, and opened up the Nvidia portion, but did not see anything adjustable. Is there a particular tab I need to use? I tried researching online, but had some trouble getting a clear answer; one of those things I should probably already know, I suppose. Thank you.

Ah NP and not exactly ignorance, it's one of those things they assume people know but not as many do as they think.  Down on the right of your taskbar where you have various icons of programs running in the background you should have a green Nvidia logo.  Thats your Nvidia settings.  There's lots of stuff you probably won't have any idea what it is... but the only real danger is in setting things too high.  Too low will just steamroll your graphics, then you can slowly move stuff back up as you go.  There is also a `15 second timer on any option that could totally fubar Windows itself so that if you do like lose all ability to see Windows, after 15 seconds of you not responding it will rever the setting.

Ah, thanks, but most of the options I see deal with things like brightness or color, that I don't think would directly affect performance. For what specifically should I be looking?

Ok this is weird... I can't find the settings I am telling you to change myself... Thing is I just changed them on my computer to tweak it for Star Wars Old Republic back in December... Let me restart my computer cause I've been having some issues with Windows crashing so maybe it didn't reload the full Nvidia programs.

I'm still having this problem, has anyone found a fix to it yet? So far the rest of my game experience has been fine, minus a few movement bugs here and there. It's only for this one specific quest during the intro cutscene after choosing my squad and weapons. I also saved the Racnhi queen in ME1, so perhaps that has something to do with it. I tried searching the forums, but this bug seems to be rare and I'm hoping that it doesn't get ignored.

Here's my specs based off what dallicant posted:

OK guys! Looking at Lodex's DXDIAG... I SEE MY CARD... so let me go play my paragon (who saved the rachni queen too) and see if I get this problem myself... if I do... then we'll really know it's a problem with having saved the Rachni queen and we can hopefully get a developer in here to help us out!

Though it might be a bit, as my Paragon is only on Mars.

Hmmm Ok I landed on the planet just fine.

Ok, so do any of you with this problem have a Shepard imported from Mass Effect 1 into 2 then into 3? It might be that problem it happened with the From Ashes DLC for a lot of people, could be a similar issue.

Update: The 1.03 patch didn't fix it either.

This time I imported a renegade character who killed the queen, but the intro cutscene still bugged.
