So I feel like I'm pretty far through the main story. I'm about to help the Asari take back their homeworld from the reapers and get the artifact. Yet my readiness level has been at 50 percent the entire game and hasn't went up. I've already got the Krogan, Turiens, Volus bombers, Quarians and many more on my side. I'm up to like 5,000 troops/soldiers.

Am I not as far through the main story as I think? I understand multiplayer rises up the readiness score... but still exactly 50 percent? WTF? Also... what's that score of 5,000-6,000 that I need to have success defeating Reapers? I don't know what the name of the score is.. 

It says my chance of success against the reapers is "very poor".

The Galactic readiness from what I can tell is something you get from playing the...Galaxy War thing and multiplayer. The thing you need to worry about is the EMS or Effective Military Strength. That's what needs to be 5000k or something like that.

It's really hard though, you have to basically do EVERY quest and get a perfect result. I did all but ONE and still only have 3445k

EMS is the one to watch. I got the ending where Shepard survives with only 4200. No MP imports. almost 100% paragon choices.

I'm maxed on reputation bar and I'm about 65 percent Paragon. My Effective Military Score is like 3900 or something so far.

How far through main story am I if I just just landed to get the Asari artifact on their home world?

Don't worry. The game will let you know when you reach the point of no return. You are pretty far into the game though.

I just want to make sure I don't do final mission until every single side mission is done. I've stopped doing the lame collection quests for the most part but I do every single side quest, Cerberus quest and main quest.

Also do you get any companion quests in this game? Or just the meet me on the Citadel type things?
