Hi guys, real quick: cheating is a top item under review/investigation by the live team. We'll have more info soon, but I'll pass along your situation (OP) to them to look at fixing you up. Please note that the intention is NOT to ban people who are "victims" of these kinds of hacks (ie got credits they didn't ask for). If this happens to you, I recommend not spending them :)

So the solution is to keep playing multiplayer, but not spending any credits, even the ones you earned legit? That's not a solution, Jarrett.

ME3 is a Single Player game with a non-competetive MP addon. Since when does it matter if anyone would cheat in a single player game so why ban at all?
And credit rewards based hosts settings seems like just a big oversight and should be easily fixed.

I guess that it is because you can buy Bioware points, if you can cheat you will be less inclined to buy the points and just hack. I am absolutely not interested in using Bioware points for that kind of stuff (especially if random).

I believe that is a more important issue on security level, but I am not an expert in the matter to confirm so, and for this reason I prefer being informed about it.

So you mean I could buy BioWare Points for in-game credits I would get through MP ?

He's not saying that, he's saying if you get a large amount of credits don't take the opportunity to go overboard and buy a load of boxes, like I did. It was really dumb of me.

Just wait til some hacker puts a negative sign in front of that one million. You'll never make enough credits to buy anything ever again.

Yeah, how will it work if I have earned 40.000, and then some idiots makes me win 1 million?

Will I still be able to spend those 40.000 or will I be cheating?
What if you cannot remember precisely how much money you had and spend over your original amount?

We need a solution please, but thanks for the update :)

No, you can buy the Spectre boxes for 60,000 credits or 180 bioware points. You can still earn credits quite easily, its just there as a little thing players can buy if they want a head start.

Could we have an official answer on this?

I want to know if it is safe to play MP at the moment or not please.

I agree I would DEFINETLY to want to know more on the matter in an official way
I would want to know what would be the best course of action if anything happen to me, because I do not want to get banned for for a product that I cannot use anymore because the design was faulted/flawed.

And I am Lawyer ready for any kind of trouble of this kind, because I really had enough of bad EA support, attitude and politics to how treat their customers (which Bioware it is not affected because it has all my pure love and dedication for their good works and products that they made).

I am not a student, I work and when I want to distract myself with gaming I do it for relax, and having an hassle free gaming it is REALLY important to forget some small daily problems of life. We are playing to save the earth, and a bit our humanity, and when a company it is soul less with their customer it really doesn't merit any support.

You is lawyer?

And I guess that the reason of not spending, it is because there must be some control in check it out spikes of buying products, vs hour of gaming/games actively played/bioware points. So only that you hit this pike you get noticed and banned automatically.

Anyway, I hope that you can fix this quick because I was positively suprised by Multiplayer, and now I am scared of playing it and ruin my Single Player experience.

OP is shorthand for Original Poster.

I think the not spending is because, if you get millions of credits, when they spot it, see who was hosting, just remove the extra credits you got, it's easier than trying to track every bought item you got, and the matches they may have been used in, and undoing it all.

If you get more than 100k credits for a full gold (which normally gives 75k, I think), the host may have been hacking, so hold off buying packs.

Silver generally gives ~30k in my experience, and bronze gives what, 15k?

If you finish a game and got excessively too many credits, I suggest you write down the host name and how many credits you got.  Then you can send an e-mail or whatever to report the host, and the number of credits, so the proper amount could possibly be removed from your account later.

Don't buy stuff.  Yes, it sucks to have credits sitting there not helping, but the more you do to make it easy for the problem to be fixed, the better.

That's crazy!
They aren't even real money... Heck,it even isn't a competitive game of player vs player,is EA banning because of somebody cheating in Co-op ? Really ?
What madness is this ? Are you totally serious ?

I play BF3 and when someone cheats once in a server he just gets kicked FROM THE SERVER not from his ORIGIN ACCOUNT (!)

What on Earth is wrong ?

Yeah, it really isn't.

This is part of the reason why I always host my own MP matches, to make sure I'm in control of all settings (and to make sure no cheating goes around).

At least this doesn't happen on the 360 for MP because it's a big hassle to hack the 360 version of the game. For the PC players who have this happen to you, I feel for you all.

so...they want you to play multiplayer to get better single player experience....yet ban you for playing multiplayer....and that ban effects all games you own....

as a wise old meme once stated "its a trap!"

Good thing multiplayer isn't a shared platform.

I think right now on the 360 the most you can do is hex credits. The multiplayer data isn't stored locally, unless it's contained in the GPD, but that's encrypted (at the minute).

Bad luck for PC players - multiplayer games that are modded easily to begin with usually never return from the abyss of hacks.

In the opening post, I said that yes, it's fair enough me getting banned, since I was stupid enough to spend the credits.

I disagree with you.  You weren't cheating.  You didn't do anything wrong.  You played the game fairly, and were rewarded with credits.  I see nothing wrong with spending those credits.

ok i have to ask this of Semtex Jack, but if your in the UK how could you be playing it if it's not released in the UK until the 9th March. I bought the Digital Deluxe Edition from Orion and it's installed on my pc ready to play, but it will not activate until the after midnight on the 8th and i'm wondering if EA are thinking the same thing ?.

No warnings in place.
Absolutely no attempt to stop it from happening.

Say it happens on someones first game and they have no idea?
I honestly can't believe a system which involves real cash has been handled so unprofessionally and poorly.
It's ludicrous and embarrassing.

Seems like the OP was banned not for getting the credits but for spending them. So the player took advantage of a hack and in most games that will get you banned without warning. Cheating can be a huge issue in MP games. If you get a crazy number of creds I would open a ticket right away and include the name of the leader. Cover yourself.

So you are working at a gas station and someone busts open the safe and robs the place. The crook offers you money for being there, you can: a) call the cops and turn  or B) spend it and say i didn't it was wrong, I didn't take it intially. Wonder which will get a stint in the pokey?

There should really be a different file controlling SP and MP. If people want to mod their SP experience, they should be able to, but things that control MP settings should either be stored on the server or subject to some sort of checksum process. That way neither the SP experience nor the MP experience is detracted from.

This is crazy! I'm not going to touch multiplayer if I risk getting my account banned!

This is something they need to fix record fast, who's going to buy 'map packs' and 'spectre packs' if there is a reasonable risk of losing the lot then getting banned because of someone else's stupidity.

It's great to see an official response to this. I'm glad to see Bioware taking it seriously, and looking into the OP's situation. Even though this doesn't effect me as an Xbox player, I've still be following this thread with interest and conern, as it really IS a very serious issue. It is really great to see Bioware responding like this.
