Can someone please tell me what is the best bonus power for Vanguard?

Keeping in mind that I didn't play a Vanguard yet, I'd totally pick Fortification.

Barrier and Fort slow down your power recharge I believe, plus don't have short cooldowns (correct me if I'm wrong), and thus are not ideal choices, since you want to be using your abilities are much as possible.

I really like Reave.
-Damage protection.
-Long range nuke: If you're only packing the shotgun (for max cooldown boosts), is great for nuking down certain enemies or a backup plan if you run out of ammo.
-Can combo with Charge for biotic explosions: useful if your squaddies are down, you can set up combos solo.

OK, I'll give it a try.

Kaidan Alenko is the one who gives Reave. He is dead in my Vanguard Shepard saves . So no Reave for my Vanguard.

Shield powers have great synergy with vanguards. They are passive powers that don't take up cooldowns. I don't have Barrier, no Kaiden saves, so I don't know its passive and purge benefits. But Defense Matrix and Fortification are great for VG's.

Fort has a better passive (Power Damage/ Force bonus, damage reduction) than Defense Matrix (tech bonus and damage reduction). But the purge on DM (shield refresh) is great with Nova. You do the normal Nova spam techniques. If you find you are without shields and on cooldown or without a good target to charge, you can purge for the instant shield refresh and that's 1-2 more Nova instantly on the ready. The ability to do 4 or more (no barrier use proc) Nova's in a row is not a bad thing.

The increased cooldowns isn't even a problem. The shield powers start -30% at rank 1 and at rank 6 it's -10%. I wear all Roskov (spelling?) gear so that +50% anyways. My squad menu Charge recharge time is below 3 sec's.

Barrier by far with a nova Vanguard even insanity is a joke except for damn Banshees insta kill grr...

just be sure to take the power increase of 25 % and the cool down reduction 30%.
