I believe you only get that scene by having the war assets counter over 4,000 points and choosing the destroy ending (red). It's the only ending where Shepard doesn't clearly die.

I had 4160 and chose the red, Shepard died for me, no breathing ending. My galactic readyness was 69%...and if that prevented me from getting the breath ending then **** YOU Bioware.

You need 5000 if Anderson is not "saved". ;)

Yeah, you need to pass all three of the Illusive Man's speech checks with a nearly full paragon/renegade bar.

Yea, and apperently saving anderson is the Renegade thing to do on account the of the quick time action. Bioware's way of saying "Hey Paragon players, you'll ALWAYS die, HAHA!"

Who cares about player who play full paragon and renegade. I'm both at the same time. Always get the best result in each Mass Effect

I don't think the paragon/renegade points matter in this installment. My renegade bar is one or two pixels high but I can still choose renegade options (my paragon bar is maxed out).

I've only seen the endings on youtube so I lack the proper context to judge them. But the idea that there is only one ending w/variants being such a unusual thing.

ME 1... really only one ending with variants. ME 2... one ending with variants.

Heck pretty much every bioware game is just one ending with variants.

The problem with multiple endings is that both diehard fans and perfectionists are going to strive to achieve the best ending anyway, so why include three arbitrary choices that all lead to the same conclusion? Focus in creating one big, great ending. Most of the casual crowd (the "bros" or college frat kids) that pick up this game are either never going to finish it or are apathetic to what ending they obtain.

But... Deus Ex HRs / Deus Ex ending are not horrible... :?

Especially in HR's case, it's endings are horrible due to the fact that regardless of what choices you made throughout the game, you always get the same 5 endings. The decisions you made while playing should effect the ending, ESPECIALLY for a trilogy such as Mass Effect where the entire sory is based around Shepard's(your) choices.
