For the record, I'd like to know why whoever wrote the ending with the Normandy crashing thought that it was a good idea at the time.

"Okay, so let's have Shepard and their love interest completely spill their guts out for each other. Make it tender, sweet, cute, and give them a great scene before heading off into battle."
'Aight, I like where this is going. Needs more drama. How can we change that?'
"How about we have the ending involve the Mass Relays getting destroyed or damaged and the Normandy being ripped from the tunnel and crashing on a remote garden world with no hope of ever seeing anyone ever again?"
'WOW! There we go. How can we really drive that nail into the players chest?'
"How about we have Shepard either die or be stuck on Earth AND imply that the Normandy crew repopulates the planet with only 30 or so crew which would mean Shepard's love interest would have had to do some repopulation of their own?"
'Let's roll with it!'

Can we all just agree that it didn't happen and make it non-canon via mass rejection?

I want to live in your world. It seems so nice and comfortable.

Well, the canon status of the last 10 minutes of the game doesn't change that I'd rather like to know what they were thinking at the time and how it made it past test screening.Spaceguy5 wrote...
The last 10 minutes of the game are officially non-canon. Surely you knew this, OP. I mean, it's so obvious....

It's not earth because there's no relay in the sol system that leads to another spot in the sol system. The Normandy would have been in the Charon relay. As in leaving.IndelibleJester wrote...
I thought they crashed on Earth. It wasn't exactly implied otherwise... was it? We already agree it didn't make much sense in the first place (Garrus was with me, after all), so why not Earth?

Look in the sky. The planet has two large moons, so we know it's not earth.

Who got out of the ship after the crash on your playthroughs? It was Joker and Tali (she was my LI) and James, for mine. I was just wondering if it's always your LI that survives on the Normandy. This may indicate that there will be DLC to retrieve the crew.
but depending on the ending... there is no shep to retrieve the crew. And I dont really see playing as anyone else.

Garrus got out in the endings I've tried so far. That was the kill the reapers and the synthesis endings. I haven't reloaded to try the take over the reapers option yet. And, Garrus was my FemSheps LI, so that could be why he gets off of the ship. In either ending I didn't see Liara or Tali, so it could be a LI thing.

Never has a quote fit a game and its horrendous effect on the fanbase more appropriately...

these are fantasy made up places and things were talking about, and we have a right to substitute our own throught process of it. and just like the first 3 star wars episodes, if a canon event in a series is terrible enough, fans will just delete those events from the fantasy in there minds.
