Haha spy program? Why are people so paranoid about Origin? Are you the same way with Steam too? What exactly is the big deal with Origin? Unless you're hiding something truly awful on your hard drive that is...

It doesn't "spy" on your activities or on your interactions with your computer, it is used to help enforce DRM, as a platform for downloading and updating software, and as EA's alternative to Steam.

Times like these when I love my PS3.

Times like this that I think back at ME1 and how IMO its still the best game in the triology. I also think about the decisions I made in it and how they are reflecting in ME3. It also reminds me why I bought ME3 for the 360 despite owning a PS3 and loving it.
Thanks for sharing though.

In Mass Effect 2, you swap discs only twice on Xbox360. I don't count the first time you put disc 1 in the drive to play, because you have to do that with any game on the Xbox. You only swap 1 time at Illum and 1 time at the Omega 4 Relay, and that's it. I'm not terribly far into the game right now, and I've already swapped discs like 6 times. I like to do all the side missions as they become available, and then move on to the main mission once those are depleted. It seems all side missions are on disc 2, and all main missions are on disc 1. This causes me to have to swap discs twice for every main story mission I'm trying to do. It's really annoying, especially when I'm playing after my family has gone to bed and the slim Xbox eject button makes that "Bing!" noise every time I open the tray, which is a bunch. Ugh!

Why couldn't you guys optimize this better like ME2? Nothing can be done about it now, unfortunately. I'm just happy this game didn't come out on 3 discs!

Okay, I'll bite. HOW excessive are we talking about? Once per hour? Twice?

Early on the main missions are on disc 1 and the side missions are on disc 2.

Ideally the side missions would be on both discs, but clearly they didn't have room to do that.

i wouldnt have complained if it came on 3 disk really :? and im quite sure they can do something about it threw a patch unless they dont say otherwise i have hope for this to happen. but we would require someone from bioware to come here and clear this up for us, and end this thread once and for all.

Well they got away with it in ME by making everything outside of the plot planets generic.
I switched as soon as it was an option in ME2 constant disk swapping would kill my immersion more than the minor choices not covered by the comic in ME2.

As long as your happy with your choice that's the main thing.

Let people who install the game on the HDD use disc one as authentication on boot up and play the game off the HDD.
Didn't Battlefield 3 do this?

This would be the logical way of doing it.

Back in my day... You could also buy a hard drive and install all 10 floppies to it, then use the original manual and enter word 6 on line 3 on paragraph 2 on page 14 of the book (copy protection of the dinosaurs), and play without swapping discs every screen.

I'm probably going to have swapped discs 20-30 times by the time I'm done with Mass Effect 3.

Steam is no different nor do I have it on my system. I would wager that you also have this same attitude towards Facebook.

Just because I don't have anything to hide does not mean they can violate my privacy and then sell information about me to 3rd party companies.

Also DRM doesn't work; the crack for ME3 has been up on pirate bay for days.

I thought about it (ME2 for the PS3 was on sale somewhere a while ago for ~$12) but then I figured I had already put a whole bunch of time into my Shepard on the 360, and that redoing it all over again just wasn't worth the time for me. If I was new to ME or had not played ME1 at all I would deffinately have gone with the PS3 version.

Both my friend and I have older consoles that now take anywhere from 1 to 30 attempts to read a disk. The machines are obviously in death throws. The games disk swap screen makes the trial and error of disk reading take longer for some reason.Twice the game has crashed to the dashboard during this ritual.

If it turns out that a formula exists for the MINIMUM amount of swaps we would have to perform,we would love to know about it.

Just wait for ME3 to come out on the XBL Store and download the digital copy to your HD. NO DISK REQUIRED.

again this does not solve the problem it just add *other* options besides not everyone are able to buy content from xbox live which in the end leaves you to the beginning of the issue.

In my day we din't have electricity. We had to go outside to play. And we had to walk in a blizard up hill both way just to get to school and back. And thats the way it was, and we liked it.

I don't mind the disk swaps, ME2 was completely acceptable with 2/3 swaps total.

Currently I'm at 5 swaps in 12.5 hrs in, that is a bit over the top IMO. It's a minor issue, but it was unexpected, normally I'm playing on the couch with my dogs and have a blanet on the dogs are asleep then I have to get up constantly to swap.

again minor, but seemingly un neccessary based on the ME2 expectation, although I'll be the first to admit knowing nothing about programming etc.

Have someone take a look at the lasers in your Xboxs. Sounds like they need to be replaced. If they are that old sending them into MS would be a waste cause it would just cost you alot. Better to have someone who knows what they are doing check out and replace the laser for you if needed.  I had to replace the laser in my XBox, which was definately out of warranty since it was a RROD replacement and its been 2 years since I got it back.

As for the minimum number of swaps... I heard someone made a guide for that.

This is the wrong place to note that on the PC, once I have it (and Origin) installed, I don't have to have a disc in the carriage at all, isn't it?
