 Hey!
First of all I wanted to say I'd run ME1, ME2, Skyrim whitout any problems. I haev WIN XP with SP3. Demo ran fine for me, had only one shut down.

During installation computer shut down just like that few times (no restart etc) but I thought okay, somethign was wrong with electricity, but problem accured again during downloading From Ashes DLC (I have CE). Mass Effect 3 also shuts down system, The most far i got was when I could choose first dialogue option and of course then shut down. I have no idea how to fix this. I reintalled Origin dozen times, also ME3. Tried diffrend partitions, download all patches, with/without DLC.

I'm so confused. I paid for game and I can't play it. I seached Origin forum for some solution but of course there is no feedback from EA.

Is there any way to play without Origin? It appears that is why computer shuts down (It never happens when Origin/ME3 is off).

It's not fair that we are forced to use this software when it obviousely has tons of bugs.

I'd appriciate any help :(.

For a PC to shutdown/restart completely is usually a hardware issue, but can on rare occassions be a software/hardware glitch.

If you goto Start > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Event Viewer

Check the times you were resetting and if you can put up what the error code etc says here.

Obviously it's Origin working as intended. [/sarcasm]

On a more serious note, you seem to have some major problem with your computer. I'd say it's most likely shutting down to an overheating issue in one of your hardware components. Get a free software such as Speccy ( http://www.piriform.com/speccy ) and monitor the temperatures while you start the game. Either that, or some drivers are messing around.

Best for the op to check what the problem really is without using 3rd party apps that may or may not help out. Speccy is only good for showing temps and what hardware there is, but with looking at the Event Viewer it will pinpoint the actual problem before reset.

When it shuts down does it show a Blue Screen? (aka BSOD) or does it just freeze the screen?

No, it's just turns off like suddenly there was no enough electricity. No restart, blue screen, freeze. Now I'll try to cry out this again so I can look at this more properly in events log.

Ok if you can find out times it logs when the computer restarted it would help.

Ok, I turned ME3 on about 16:57, computer went down at 17:04. And I'm peering now into event log and I can't see anything special... Argh

So never got a chance to write data... which could point to hardware problems.

But you have recently ran the other games you said? If not can you try see if you have any problems after a few minutes of gameplay?

Should I look for something specific? I'm not really good at computers.

You would have noticed in the event viewer, a big red ! usually is the give away :)

But if it didn't get a chance to write data on why the PC failed then it could be a hardware issue, hence why I asked if you could run either Skyrim or ME2 for a while to see if it happens again.

Okay, I launched Skyrim played for a while and..... yes it's dead. So it looks like problem is with my computer not particularly with Origin and ME3. I checked event log and again nothing interesting there. That's quite strange cause system runned well recently (actually reinstalled WIN about 2 moths ago). I'll have to contant someone who has some knowledge about computers to help me out. Anyway, thank you so mutch DABhand, if not you till now I would think that's origin fault.

Try the following:

Right Click on “My Computer” and goto “Properties”. Then goto the “Advanced” tab and under the headline “Startup and Recovery”, press the “Settings” button. Untick the “Automatically Restart” box and press Ok.

This disables the automatic shutdown in case a bsod appears.
If its a bsod issue you can actually see the bluescreen and show us the error details.

Thanks Kraut that was going to be my next suggestion.

I think it may be a Power Supply Issue, Aithieel if you have a friend with a spare Power Supply and they know how to fit one, get them to try it out before taking it to a repair shop etc. Cause some are always bending the truth to what the problems are and you end up paying for things you don't necessarily need.

No BSOD appeared. Just power off. And I've got some serious problem :crying: because computer went down during starting up..... I'll call my brother immidiately, maybe he'll be able to help me. It might be Power Supply Issue.
Thanks guys for help

A dumb question, but one that needs to be answered: You checked the temperatures yet? That's the quickest and easiest way to find out if it dies because of overheating issues in one of the crucial components. I'd personally check into that before I would start messing around switching components back and fourth.

I have been having the same problem that aithieel has been having, and downloaded speccy as recommended. my cpu temp is 36, motherboard temp is 40 and gpu is 57, gpu is a little on the high side but nothing extreme...

Had the same problem. My computer was restarting randomly while playing me3. The problem in my case was the psu. The fan was not workinng anymore and in result the psu was overheating and making my system reboot and it had only 380W(now 500W). Have no problems anymore.
