The explosion rocked the
Citadel. They didn’t have long before the explosion would destroy all of the
remaining ships in the Sol system. Earth would ultimatly survive, but it would
not be easy. Humans even could not come out the same; the war on their planet
had caused devestation to the population, and the atmosphere of the Earth had
suffered as well. Shepard had made his decision. He wasn’t staying with Earth,
he had something he cared about more. The Commander wouldn’t have made this
decision with out things ending as they had, with him managing to save
Anderson. Shepard knew as long as Anderson was alive, Earth could be rebuilt.
He left it to him and Anderson understood Shepard’s desperate and unlikely
attempt to reach another area of the galaxy before the relays suffered from
power down. The Normandy had suffered
some minor damage from the engagement of the Reapers, but Joker was determined
to do this for Shepard, and besides; EDI wouldn’t last for ever. He knew power
for her would be hard to come by soon, and decided he should spend all the time
he could with her. “Jeff, power to the
engine has decreased by ten percent. Clock count shows only five minutes before
power down.” “I know that EDI, I can read! Divert non-critical power to the engine,
get as much speed and kick in as we can!” “Commander, I’m not sure we’re going to make
this in time, and if we get stuck, we’ll starve or run out of oxygen eventully.
You. . . may want to say good bye, just in case.” Shepard frowed in
dissapprovement at Jokers worries. “If any one can make this run in time, it’s
you. I trust you just as much as any member of my crew, Joker.” “Right,
Commander. I’ll. . . push the ship as hard as I can.” Tali had slunk up to the **** pit, and had
been delibertely quiet about it. “Shepard. You don’t need to do this – I love
you, but this is dangerous, and you have your own people to care for.” Shepard
blinked his eyes quietly. “Tali. I care about you more than any one. I left
Anderson to help humanity. Maybe it wasn’t the best thing, maybe we’ll suffer a
bit more than we should. I know I’m being selfish. But I can’t help but feel we
deserve it, no matter the consequences, Tali.” “You’re certain?” “Yes. I’m
going with you to Rannoch. Besides, you need some one who can help you build
your house.” Shepard offered a trembling smile, but it was shallow. He was
frightened. “And everyone else in the crew, Shepard?” “(Ashley/Kaiden) and Vega
stayed. Garrus wants to be ejected by a life pod unto Palaven. But.. he knows
we can’t do that, so he’s going to come along. And he argues that he’d be
happier with friends like you and I with in reach. Javik died in the attack. .
. I don’t know what happened to Liara. All that really matters to me now is us.”
“There never was any convincing you, Shepard. I love you.” Shepard smiled again
– except it was genuine this time. He had a smile that showed hope now.
“SHEPARD!
Power down in three minutes, ETA to the relay in two and a half! We’re going to
make it!”
(I believe this is more what everyone wanted then the sad and depressing endings, but it has sacrafice and sadness built it.) (The endings disappointed me too, so I made this.)
