Parts-
1) Destroy/Save Collector Base ME2
2) Effective War Assets (aka War Assets * Galactic Readiness = EWS; GR=50% without PvP/Co-Op)
3) Which of the 3 choices to make (Destroy, Syn, Control)
Breakdown
Collector’s Base Saved
Readiness Rating < 1750 – Earth is destroyed regardless of whatever decisions you made.
Readiness Rating 1750 – Choose to Save the Reapers and the Earth will be saved.
Readiness Rating 2050 – Choose to become a Reaper and the Earth will be saved.
Readiness Rating 2350 – Choose to destroy the Repears and the Earth will be somewhat destroyed
Readiness Rating 2650 – Choose to destroy the Reapers and Earth is destroyed.
Readiness Rating 2800 – Earth and the Galaxy will be saved once you’re able to create synergy
Readiness Rating 4000 – Choose to destroy the Reapers and Save Anderson to see Shepard lives.
Readiness Rating 5000 – Choose to destroy the reapers and not Save Anderson to see Shepard lives.
Collector’s Base Destroyed
Readiness Rating < 1750 – Earth is destroyed regardless of whatever decisions you made.
Readiness Rating 1750 – Choose to become a Reaper and the Earth will be destroyed.
Readiness Rating 1900 – Choose to destroy the Repears and the Earth will be somewhat destroyed
Readiness Rating 2350 – Choose to become a Reaper and the Earth will be saved.
Readiness Rating 2650 – Choose to destroy the Reapers and Earth will be saved.

So if you saved Collector Have EFS > 4000 AND choose to DESTROY REAPERS (and EDI and Geth) THEN it give small cutscene of whats suppose to be shepards body on earth under rubble taking a breath (see video link on Pg 1)
**Note the 'extra ending' with old man and child if you look up at sky and look at sky that Normandy crashes on...looks like same double moons.

You don't actually save him, you just prevent TIM from killing him outright, which allows for extra dialog between Shep and Anderson.
Hmm, but the guide say that shep can live if you save anderson, so i supose he did survive :/
That was my ending. His survival is seeing a chest with N7 tags, a bloody mess and then a quick "gasp" as if waking up then darkness. It was ridiculous.
Wait, what? This really happened? O_o
Not doubting you - just didn't know it was possible.
Yeah I got the same thing on my first playthrough last night. You have to have a certain number of war assets though I think.

Dynamic Opportunity, if you don't convince IM to kill himself or shoot him before he shoots Anderson - then Anderson dies via cold-blood.

Yup, you need 4,000 at least for that scene and must Destroy the Reapers.

ok, a little off topic but goes with OP..... Even though I haven't experienced it yet for myself, how does Shepard "live" when it looks like to me, that he was engulfed in flames when the thing exploded in his face. How do they say Shepard survives after getting the 5000 EMS or whatever? Is it implied or something.
One of the devs (Brenon Holmes) said this was an extra scene that implies that shep survived. He said it was like those movies where there is a hint of a sequel at the end (he clarified there was no plans for sequel tho, it was just something for us to headcanon shepp survival).
So they dont really explain how he survives but the dev said he did![]()
Its a scene where sheps body is on a bunch of rubble, he takes a breath and the screen fades to black, Its an obvious hint that he survived. (you only get that on the red-destroy ending btw)
Besides for that fact that it makes almost no sense that Shepard survived - given the fact that Shepard's body is like half synthetic so I don't think she would live.

Is the 'sheppard survives' male only? I've maxed out paragon, done para on every conversation with illusive man, got him to shoot himself (then redid that last level and shot him), anderson lived (to bleed out ina friendly sitdown both times) sortof, but regardless of the option I choose at the end, I don't get that little 'omg shes alive' cutscene at the end. My ECR or w/e is ~5300 or so, so that number shouldn't even be an issue.
the only one i say him live in was destroy the reapers

you can renegade him before he get shot but he will still die by you thats is with the last option do another play thru on NG+ and you will notice that you paragon bar still gettig rep my bar was full and i still couldnt get the last option to paragon this time i am hoping this time i will be able to see if there is actual way to get the "surpise ending" but i am betting its just you can make anderson or you decide what to do and mjaaybe tim will leave them allowed ,, i almost had him just need more paragon rep to do it hoping i can do this time

i had 6k from doing that and i still couldn't get tim to shoot himself i think Anderson can be saved if you do it right like how i saved the salarian councilor and have the doctor on the hip this time around i didn't have them last time my ecs is already up to 4k now with 100 GR now only have to do is the quarina and geth again to see if this will give me the right level to see if i can get them the good ending that that prima says exist right now i am at 4k after the udina coup if i do the quests that people ned i should be above 6k{like my last game i skipped few things missions and i still got a very close to 7k strength rating..
so hopefully i will get the last option to see time shoot himself and maybe the ending is tide to the strength thing if i am at even now with this play thru i should be able to survive the ending and be alive to say that she lived i don't know if they just made that guide to say that but the fish part wasn't a real good reward,
so maybe what changed will make it better so far thane died on my second play thru and i have charwa on my ship this time so i will keep you all posted on whats going on atm

Everything I've read points at 5k being the upper cap. I was able to get IM to shoot himself a-la Saren, and Anderson sort of lived (a little bit longer), but I saw no 'Shepard lives!' teaser cinematic. Sadface.

Why has no one said anything about this? Is it not true or something? It seems beleivable.

Shepard is insinuated to have survived in the "Red" ending.

Said anything about what, the way the endings work? This stuff has been all over the internet for days (including these forums). Google, my friend, Google.
BTW, you don't need to save the Collector Base in ME2 to see Shepard alive in the wreckage at the end--you only need to chose the "Red" ending.

Either way, it doesn't matter, the mass relays are all destroyed and my Shep will never be with her team again, as well as all the Asari, Batarians, Volus, Elcor, Salarians, Turians, Quarians, Geth and whatever other races decided to assist earth being trapped in the Sol system (if it didn't get blown up by the mass relay).
Is there something I am missing for how to get Shepard to survive? So far my personal best choice (still unsatisfying but whatever) is synthesis, but I want to get all endings for myself.
Sad.

Same issue here, are you by chance femshep? Because from what I can see at least, thats looking like a maleshep cinematic only :/

The FemShep cinematic for that same scene can be found in the Movies subdirectory in the game files. I assume that it is available for FemShep players who get the right ending.

It may be due to the fact that I was at ~3700 EMS after Kai Leng, saw I was under the 4K mark, and broke down to play multiplayer. I never earned any more War Assets after increasing Readiness through multiplayer.
Did it not recalculate, denying me the bonus? If so, that's sloppy programming.

There's still a bug with this. I had ~4300 (58% Readiness) EMS, convinced TIM to kill himself (which is the "save Anderson" option as I understand it), chose to destroy the Reapers, and still did not get the survival cutscene.

This could be the case as I experienced the same thing. I decided MP was a good idea when we attacked earth. Didnt compute, finished the game first with only 3k EMS, then did some MP, got to 4.2k EMS but got the same ending. I'm thinking it does a final EMS check once you initiate the Cerberus mission to keep you from having to constantly play MP in order to get the ending you want. Just a hunch, but I could be completely wrong.

Multiplayer is pretty much required for this, i don't see how it's possible to get 10k TMS without it.... I got about 6500 after doing almost everything in the game.

So it'll take weeks or months to get home, and there will be a lot of cannibalizing of resources from destroyed ships, but everyone can get home and intergalactic society can begin to rebuild, travel and communication just got a lot less convenient and more expensive, is all.
