Not every game is Mass Effect, the reason why people care so much is because during all those years they grew attached to the characters. In fact, I'm more worried about what happened with Joker, Liara, EDI and Garrus on that planet than with Shepard dying.

Honestly, if it's a "New Endings" DLC, then there better be new missions, conversation options, and such. I haven't finished the game yet, but the Prothean DLC hasn't provided anything special and was a lot of whining about nothing.
