same, frankly I don't give a **** when the DLC was made or if it was cut or not, all I care about is why they think that it was worth $10! it should be $8 at most

They don't take payment for how much content and how long a game is. If that was the case Fallout 3 would cast $200 and DOOM3 would almost be free.

MaleQuariansFTW wrote...

Has BioWare said anything in response to this so far?

They said responded before release that some voicefiles and animation files needed for the rest of the game where included on the game disk to make it all work bether and the download smaller.
You download Eden Prime, the VA for the Prothean, Shepard and Liara and some bonus things like extra skin for squademates. The animations and partybanther for other missions are on the disc. They also said that the Protheans character and VA was made in time for release but  the Eden Prime mission was worked for after the gamne went gold.

Why are people acting like Bioware didn't tell us this before? It's no news.

This I can understand. Ten dollars is a steep price in my opinion. Had I not purchased the CE, I may not have purchased it. As a whole, it is good for the lore. But the actual gameplay isn't all that different from the main game.

Notice how no BioWare employee has posted on this yet...

Hm...

What exactly would there be to say?

Bioware: Yes, we created this content to be dlc. Although we originally planned for it to be included in CE copies only, we decided it would be more profitable to sell it to everyone.

BSN: WE KNEW IT!!!! HOW DARE YOU MAKE MONEY WITH YOUR OWN INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY!!!!!! I DEMAND THIS CONTENT!!!!!
WHO AM I? I"M THAT GUYS THAT SAYS YOUR GAME SUCKS AND YET INEXPLICABLY WANTS EVERY SINGLE PIECE OF
UNIMPORTANTS EXTRA CONTENT!!!! BUT I WANT IT FOR FREE!!!! BECAUSE YOUR GAME SUCKS YOU SEE AND EA IS THE
DEVIL!!!!!

This is Bioware's intellectual property. That means they can decide what to include in the original disc and what is extra. We as adults are capable of making the rational decision to buy it or not. It doesn't matter that it's on the disk. All that matters is what Bioware decided to do with their game.

There is literally nothing that needs to be said.

They lied.

It makes sense to me. I think we can freely discuss that leaked script now, but without me spoiling what people may not already know, the Prothean squadmate initially played a MUCH larger role in the game according to the script. They scaled back his involvement by introducing other "concepts" to carry the story forward in a similar manner but without truly requiring him to be part of the story. The Prothean has been there all along in their plans, that shouldn't be a surprise.

That said, I am disappointed as well. The Prothean should have just remained an integral part of the game, because honestly, his involvement in the script was definitely better than what Bioware fell back on instead.

I really don't get the issue (and haven't trawled through the last 10 pages), it's not like they didn't announce months ago that this extra character & mission would be available day 1 - it was announced as a bonus feature of the Collectors Edition for crying out loud so its had to be ready for day 1. The only thing they didn't say then was that they would make it available for purchase by SE owners immediately (or at all for that matter - although it was only announced as a CE Bonus not exclusive).

I do understand that the nature of the character in question hardly makes it optional for any true fan of the game - but that's another matter. I wonder if everyone would still be up in arms about "Day 1 DLC" if the extra character (& missions) had a different character entirely (similar to Zaheed & Kasumi).

I still don't get what's wrong here? First of all, I had to download the whole DLC (I guess) with 500mb download.
Second, it's known for months that there will be a DLC on the first day because it was part of the CE content so it had to be done at release date. So even if it would be on the disc, would just mean they were done earlier than expected.

I don't know why some people still say it's on the disc, it was definately not on my Collectors Editon Discs. If the strange blog is the only source maybe they are just speculating to get viewers, which works thanks to people who see a conspiracy in everything.

Edit: After actually reading the blog (What a waste of time) I can definately say that they just wanted money and you give it to them with every view (shame on me). They only say, the content was ripped out of the game but I haven't seen a word about the CE. It's not ripped out of the game, it's just the content, that was promised months ago for the CE.
The voice files? Wow what a big surprise. Do you think Bioware starts the voice acting 2 days before they release the DLC? Voice Over is done long before it's needed in the game and they do more than they need so they can change or add something later without inviteing the voice actors all again.
Some people are just looking for something to hate, if you do so next time please use your brain first.

Plus it lists some files that are there to integrate the dlc with the game. Not the bulk of the DLC files. Anyway, I think 10 bucks is a lot for a 1 character dlc. They might profit a lot more from it if they sold it for 2-3 bucks. Many more players would purchase it, I guess. (I'm glad I didn't pay for it and even my DDE ended up cheaper than the usual SE price in my country! Plus DA:Origins! Promotions FTW!)

Files pertining to the character are on the game discs. BioWare included smaller files like party banter, etc. in the game disc to lessen the download of the dlc. This fact is used by certain BSN members as evidence that Bioware lied. They didn't. But people here don't care to be bogged down by facts.

You didn't read Johnny's post. They finished certain parts of the dlc by the time the game went gold to alleviate the actual download. The bulk of the level was completed afterward.

Now, I'm tierd of this discution and since people don't seem to read what others say there really is no point in continuing this. People only belive the bad swtuff, never det god stuff.

Good to know they are learning how to deal with DLC from Capcom.

God I really love this industry sometimes.

So all this is about some files? How would you do it? Would you not put the finished files for the DLC, which was announced months before release as Day 1 DLC AND Bonus DLC, on the disc if you could?
I try but I don't see any crime here.

So this stand you guys were going to take...where is it?

Bioware should have just kept it a CE exclusive. Then, we wouldn't have to worry about this.

Depending on how you react to my last statement, I may be joking.

So you are saying they sell the mision on Eden prime for $10? I dont think so. They obviously developed the Prothean character way before game was finished and used the rest they finished later as an excuse. The Prothean is in the game. He is just unlocked by DLC. Bioware lied when they said it was developed separately.

That's why I hate DLC crap. I would have waited 6 months, 1 year for the proper expansions/addons for ME1 or ME2, even for ME3. But instead we're fed with DLC.

How can you say they didn't.   The DLC character was developed long before the actual coding started, so it's not inconceivable that the parts of the main storyline pertaining to the character were developed as part of the main game.   In addition, as game development consists of a number of different teams working on their own areas (such as sound or voice acting, animation etc), so that one team may have completed thier work on the main game and moved onto DLC stuff while other teams were still doing main game development.  As for their being stuff on the disc - that only proves that that particular stuff was ready when the discs were manufactured - it doesn't mean that the DLC itself was complete (which is why I needed to download it after I installed the game).

Ofc if they'd done that the same people would have been complaining that they wanted it as a DLC and why wasn't it released as Day 1 DLC etc etc...you just can't please some people.

And yet you don't have any evidence of this. You create arguments to fit your initial assertion. Johnny gave you evidence as did I. You don't want to accept it because you want to believe differently. But you're wrong.

Furthermore, as I mentioned before, even if the character was on the disk in it's entirety (which it's not) it is Bioware's right to decide what they are including in their package. It is our right decide if it is worth a purchase.

In what way? I knew he would be day 1 dlc. The fact that there are auxiliary files on the disc does not prove they were done with the content. I wasn't mislead and I'm not any more intelligent than you are.
