Of course, one can also consider that the Prothean character was leaked over a year ago. If there were plans so far back, exactly how long did it take to make this DLC? Those who choose to believe they were lied to certainly have some things to be suspicious about, at least

Isn't the Download for few hundred MB's so maybe only certain assets made it to the disc in time and done so to save some later effort. I doubt it's just a dummy file and a key.
Still either way the Game was meant to be finished in January, that's what you've paid for, the £10 is for the delevopment of the DLC past that time and possibly by different people that aren't getting paid by the games revenue.
I'm not a fan of DLC like this but it's still now £1.99 for the color black like Lionhead would sell you, it's not something integral to the main game or an obvious bit of a major selling feature sliced out. Just because it's on the disc doesn't mean you've paid for it or bought the game for it, or that it didn't cost EA/BW extra money on top of an ever growing average development cost.

Ofcourse the DLC was done during development. All the characters reply to the Prothean during in game barter and dialog.
Its obvious he was a part of the game that they took out.
WOAH! that has to mean exactly tat because bioware can't POSSIBLE in ANY WAY get the vioce actors to record some extra lines for a DLC can they?
your agument in invalid, go and look at kasumi and zaeed, eveyone replys and banters with them
And Kasumi was on the ME2 disc. So were parts of LotSB.

A developer that handled this kind of situation well was Epic whenever people complained about the first Gears of War 3 pack that came out shortly after release, and it was all on disc. Look it up if you haven't already.

I think most people already knew that it would be on disc, I was just disappointed to hear Bioware's statement of denial. No point in lying about it.

if you read the destructiod article about from ashes they say "bioware never said they didn't START the DLC in production time, only that they finished it afterwards." what was on the disk could easily be incomplete content that they didn't manage to finish before the game went into production, hence the 600MB download for the DLC

regardless day 1 dlc, and after doing the dlc ( i bought ce) the backstory is pretty sweet, but I mean every companion reacts to the prothean in some way. He was definitely a planned out character cut for dlc and $$$. No doubt about it because people will pay for an OMG PROTHEAN, just like the pay millions for CoD map packs.
Exactly. Do you know what happens when you take people on Zaeed's loyalty mission? Nothing. They say nothing and don't even acknowledge that he's alive. That's something of an indicator that this was developed outside of the campaign. Same goes with Kasumi. She may fill in generic dialogue that rotates with every character, but nothing like Jack's lines during Miranda's loyalty mission. The rest of the crew doesn't react to Kasumi or Zaeed, but in ME3 everyone is aware of Javik and have something to say about him and to him.

I find it funny some of the ones complaining have actually already bought/playing ME3.To me if you feel your getting screwed why buy or play the game. Why not buy used , buy at pricedrop/game of the year edition or boycott.
I did just that. My local Gamestop had 5 used ones already so I bought it yesterday. I wasn't going to give BW my money again so I was going to wait for a used one no matter what. Just happen sooner than I thought.

How the eff are you supposed to get the squadmate?! Magic? No you have to go somewhere to get him, perhaps a story related location which was done AFTER regular development, hense not on the retail disc and the 600 Mb download.
Which means everything that Casey Hudson et al said was true. Just because you modeled the character and did voicework doesn't mean the DLC is complete.
BSN at it's best as usual.

true, but a single thread is easily missed by potential buyers, especially when a lot of the drones have inserted misdirection and pointless drivel into it,,whereas a lot of threads says a lot people are miffed.
this is held true by them not coraling all the "i love this game" threads into one.
i call it the misdirection ploy

Somebody, somewhere is going to defend this on behalf of EA and Bioware- it's not going to be me.
It'll be me, then. The company made it clear that the DLC was ready in advance of the game going gold. The company had been working for about three months to finalize it. It was developed by an entirely different firm. Why is this a problem? Should the company have left the product off of the disc, forcing even purchasers of the physical product to download it?

Except no, they explicitly said that it was developed after the fact.

True Bioware didn't start this fad but that doesn't make it right. If I pay $65 for a game I think I pretty much paid for what was on the disk to start with. Why do I have to shell out more?
This might be part of the issue: you had expectations which weren't necessarily justified. I can understand your perspective, but I don't know if it's necessarily optimal.
I paid $90 (or thereabouts) for my Collectors Edition for the PC. That means I want the core game (without DLC), my CE hoodie/weapons/dog/soundtrack/collectable FemShep-DudeShep tin/companion appearance options/comic book/lithograph/art book/patch/free first-day DLC. I pre-ordered through Gamestop, which means I also wanted my pre-order weapons.
I got all those things.
If someone bought the regular edition, it means they wanted the core game, plus any pre-order bonuses as applicable.
You got that.
What's actually on the disc is extraneous and irrelevant if you got what you actually paid for, which you did. Expecting full access to every piece of data on the disc isn't necessarily a reasonable expectation.
In short, you got what you actually paid for.
So why are you upset at not getting to something on the disc?
If I buy a copy of Windows 7 Home Premium, all the content reaching up to Windows 7 Ultimate is on the DVD. However, I can't unlock that content without purchasing an upgrade.
Same here. Either way, however, I got what I actually paid for.
Err... I think your missing the point.
