 I'm having this issue where I try to go into the squad screen (at any location) just to look at my character's status, and the screen stays frozen on the blue bubble background  (which is still moving). I can't see anything else on the screen except this background. None of the buttons on the controller work. I can, however, use the PS button to exit the game and restart it. It will do this over and over again.

Eventually, I gave up and stopped looking at the squad menu screen.

Until this morning. I decided I wanted to play through the "From Ashes" DLC. Currently I'm right after your first trip to the Citadel. I started that mission. I picked my squadmates. I fiddled with their weapons. Then the screen was switching to what would be the squad menu screen so I could distribute their abilities, and the screen goes to the blue bubble background and remains frozen there.

So it appears to me that I have some sort of bug where the squad menu screen is freezing up the game. Any help??

80GB 4USB fat ps3
500GB HDD 5600 RPM (to replace the old 80GB HDD)
PS3 OS 4.11

I spent 6+ hours on the phone with Sony and EA. The only fix will be a patch from bioware to use less memory resources. Chances are your fat 80Gb has some fried components in there somewhere. I got ****ed the same way, except I was experiencing literally ALL the glitches.

I just find it strange that it does it sometimes, and not other times. The bubble background in the menu screen is still "moving" when this happens, but there's nothing else on the screen. I find it strange that if it was a memory issue, why isn't it freezing my entire PS3? I don't get freezing on any other game (note: I don't play Bethesda games).

No dice. Just did a hard reset on my PS3 and still no luck. I can't start any missions because you always have to go into the squad menu screen before a mission starts. This is upsetting. Anyone else experiencing freezing when you go into the squad menu?

I've only had mine freeze once, but it was with the squad menu as well. But my PS3 was freezing on ME2 occasionaly, so I just hope it isn't something in the console.

I've never had a freeze issue with ME2, and I just replayed it in January for a second playthrough.

I think I figured out a work around!

I deleted the 1.01 patch for the game and only installed my DLC (GameStop preorder bonus, From Ashes DLC, CE DLC) and chose to skip downloading the 1.01 patch when I loaded the game back up.

So far I'm get zero Squad Menu Screen freezes. However, I can't play multiplayer without the 1.01 patch. Well at least I can play through the main game now.

Gonna try doing the "From Ashes" DLC soon and see if this ghetto fix holds up.

Well this isn't a 100% fix but it certainly lowers the amount of time my game freezes going into the Squad Menu Screen at the beginning of missions.

I hope for patches soon.
