They actually explain this in detail in both 2 and 3.

She never left the Alliance. She took time off.  And she only went to Cerberus for Joker. She was concerned about his health and lack of willingess to look after himself.

Then in 3 she talks about how proud she was of using them

It's something "we" hand wave away. We don't want to think that it's very unlikely for say, USAF pilot to join Al Qaida because they happen to have like cool ship to fly and told them that they bring their commander that they saw die two years ago, back from the dead.

Didn't really seem like an assassination to me.

He's not the moping type. So, he moved on.

It's only "bad" on a meta-level. Not like Jacob knows his fiance is the protagonist of a story he's in, though.

This is really a massive Strawman.

Are an alien race about to attack Earth, and you know this 100% for a fact, and Al Qaida is the only one trying to stop them?

Still Cerberus was hated by whole Alliance. Well, mostly.  It´s not like Cerberus didn´t have good doctors or scientists. I mean, after all they brought one person from death. What´s one brittle bones disease. Does he really need special doctor from Alliance...

But I agree. Cerberus had some good points in the past. Except Akuze for all my Shepards. I mean one good point. Like investigating collectors. It´s not like Kaidan or Ash weren´t doing the same...

Nothing indicates that Cerberus was doing anything to stop the Reapers before events of ME2.

I thought it was good to have at least one squaddie who would question and challenge you a bit. Having an entire ship full of loyal flunkies makes for a good power fantasy I suppose but it's not really conducive to good judgement for any leader.

As for Jacob, I don't know. I enjoyed slapping him...

I agree, I think Kaidan was handled well in 3, I just can't like ashley in 3

good thing is you can shoot Ashley during the coop or was it towards the end I don't recall :/
but hey you made the wrong choice in me1 correct it by showing her the end of the gun

Thane.

Talk about character assassination.

This, along with Mordin, Legion and Nyreen were the scenes at ME where I almost started crying. At Legion's death I actually cried.

Except.. Everything.

TIM knew about the Reapers before Shepard did, Read Evolution. Cerberus' plans and plots in ME1 where made to create shock-troops to battle the Reapers.

Then in ME2 they spend billions to bring back Shepard, and all efforts are to stop the Reapers.

Meanwhile everybody else does nothing

Yes, it's easy to say now. Back then it went, quoting Drew Karpyshyn, Lead writer of ME1 and Second lead to ME2

"For example, Cerberus was never that important in our initial plans – they were just a small, throw-away group of radical humans we could use for some subplots in ME1.
But Cerberus struck a chord with the fans, and when I wrote the second ME novel I decided to dig into the group a little more. TIM was born, fans and the team loved the character, and we just ran with it."

So, when writers didn't knew themself, how characters were supposed to know?

What point are you trying to make here?

We were talking about why Chakwas and Joker joined Cerberus and how it was explained very well.  Which you denied.

Now you're saying Cerberus' role was expanded? And.... What's your point?

Then explain it.

So Cerberus are a pro-human terrorist group, trying to create shock troops.

Shepard dies.

Council ignores Reapers, Cerberus don't.

Some of Shepard's friends join Cerberus to fight Reapers.

And you're saying this makes no sense because in ME1 Cerberus never mentioned the Reapers and got expanded?

So? Nothing was changed. They just expanded it.
