Guys, they didnt dumb the AI down on the consoles, just the number of enemies. And its not like youre only facing 3 or 4 enemies on the console, ive already seen gameplay with at least 10 enemies at a time.
Well reguardless if they did that than shame on them.
If Uncharted 2 can have a helicopter firing at you, bad guys firing at you all while the building you're in is literally collapsing than there was no need.
Not the same at all, and Uncharted 2 never had more than 6-8 enemies at once, and the heli is prescripted (or whatever the technical term is)
Oh and i just remembered a dev post that said he saw the PS3 version running with 16 enemies on screen, and he wasnt even sure it was the maximum number. So again, its not like the console versions only have 5 enemies at a time.
Than you Obviously never played or Finished Uncharted 2.
Yes i have. And to top it off, Uncharted 2 has ****** poor AI.

If the enemies used decent AI and tactics, would the game be fun?
You spot some Darkspawn ahead and send your sword/shield and two-handed weapon fighters forward to kill them. Unfortunately, they trigger a trap that slows them down. Meanwhile, a larger number of Darkspawn rush past your fighters to attack your mage and archer rogue, while enemy ranged troops and spellcasters target your stranded warriors.
Does that sound like funto you?
Yes

This ^^^ would be absolutely awesome. Having to think and intelligently use resources and abilities. Yes! Please!

I'm with Sheff. And I am a huge fan of Tactics modded BG2. However, SCSII wouldn't have been fun on my first playthru. Reminds me of fighting the three trolls in the DA:J game after you pick up Martin. I can pass on the save/reload fest every battle nowadays.

I liked Uncharted 2, it was a great game, but I think having a helicopter shooting at my character in Dragon Age would be a little...anachronistic. Seriously though, the AI wasn't that smart in Uncharted 2 either. If it had been, they would have been a lot more effective with the freaking grenade launchers.
Honestly, it doesn't sound like you're complaining about the AI so much as what kind of game this is going to be. Unless you think that it's reflective of great AI when bad guys are shooting at you while a building is collapsing rather than, oh I don't know, trying to get out of the collapsing building?

As for the "would it be fun". I guess it could. I guess we'll have to check for ourselves on this one.

Debate means takling point and counterpoint, and meshing them together. You make a 'point' and then proceed to insult everyone who disagrees with you (re: Uncharted 2 AI).
Its getting frikkin annoying seeing all these trolls here, what do they want? This game isn't going to be for everyone, and saying they are debating is laughable.

I'm personally interested in discussing the merits of brilliant, leet AI in RPGs. I liked Sheff's contribution to the discussion because I am personally neither brilliant nor leet, but I love to kill stuff in video games like I am. LOL

Good! Then you'll like this game. That's how the combat is supposed to work.

But indeed, I do wonder where all these trolls are coming from. Just a few months back the DA:O forums were a rather cozy place with old timers chatting with the devs.
Now it's a mess.
Jacks-Up you're a part of the problem. Fix yourself.

Honestly it doesn't sound like you actually read the conversation. I was commenting on the fact that the power needed to do such a screen is proof that the AI and enemies is not or should not have been dumbed down for the console versions. I was not suggesting they add helicopters in DAO. /eyeroll

ETA Who is constantly saying that this is a tactical strategy game? I could have sworn DA:O was being marketed as a dark fantasy role-playing game with an emphasis on story and meaningful choices. Perhaps I'm reading different websites to the OP.

I am confused. I don't think DA:O shouldn't have any tactical or strategy based elements I don't like thinking.
But indeed, I do wonder how I came here just to troll. Just a few months back the DA:O forums were a place where only Fanboys resided and no one said anything criticizing about the game
Now it has criticism.
I'm part of the problem. I'll remove myself from this thread..

The AI in U2 was fairly simple. The AI in DAO is more complicated. Also U2 was an exclusive while DAO-PS3 is a port.Jacks-Up wrote...

well actually the whole point of this thread is that the AI isn't complicated. Just because it's a port doesn't mean it can't handle it, a bad porting job isn't the consoles fault.

This is rude and unjustified. You come arround and start a thread about how a review whined about ALL THE RPGs ever released and try to make some kind of point out of it. You're NEVER clear on what you're trying to say or achieve by posting this here. You haven't even played the game to confirm it.
Then, when someone asks why posts like yours are tolerated by the community, you start messing with his words and try to make him looks stupid. Before you made that last post, did you even considered that maybe you were a bit hasty in your judgement? Or maybe a bit pessimist? You know, even people that expect to enjoy this game may prove right sometimes.
