WTF!!!!! What a horrible ending for such a good game EXTREMLY dissapointing. The acting budget must have runout before they could finish the game.

The ending sequence has plenty of production value and the game could have ended right there. We just thought people would have liked to know a bit more about what happened to other aspects of the story but we were already tight enough for time and budget as all the focus had gone into the rest of the game and the actual ending, so the additional prologues were given less resources.

As a developer it is very important to know that many people dislike extra content if its not up to par with their expectations, even if its something extra that would otherwise not be there. However, in this case we decided that it was worth it since most of our tests concluded that it was more satisfying to know what happens to all the characters however possible than to not.

As far as I'm concerned, the death of the archdemon was the climax. The coronation or funeral that followed is the ending. The epilogue that follows is just that -- it follows the ending, and shows some of the ramifications of what you've done.

I don't really see us turning all those epilogues into a bunch of animated cutscenes. Really, if what you want is for us to end with a cutscene we probably could have stopped at just the coronation or funeral -- and not had any epilogue at all. If that's what you'd prefer, then you're well within your rights to say so.

I know some people are always going to want more -- more info on their beloved party members, more interactions, more cutscenes, more story, more more more... yes, I understand that. But the story has to end somewhere, and while personally I prefer an ending to wrap things up rather than just stop I can see how people might think otherwise. Suggesting that we should have kept creating content, however, is not particularly useful. If you have feedback on how we might have better presented the ending without doing that, however, then by all means offer it.

I liked the ending, but my biggest complaint was if Alistair sacrifices himself, specifically if you're in a romance with him... no one cares. Wynne was the only person I could even mention him to and there was nothing about the loss of her love, nothing about what he did to save her, this is all while I'm sobbing and yelling at the monitor telling Alistair what an idiot he was.

I think there is some cognitive dissonance going on there between the player and the character. It's been months since Alistair's sacrifice in-game -- yet I suppose from the player's perspective it has just happened. I'm not really sure what the value would be of having the player going around to all the companions and wailing and gnashing her teeth and such -- to them, he died a hero. And, honestly, are you going to bring up the man she loved who died? How would that conversation go?

"Yeah, gee, so about that Alistair dying... gosh! Bad, huh?"
"WAAAAAIIILLL"
"Umm, yeah. I'll just stand over here."

But I get your point. In my defence, the dialogues in the epilogue were pretty huge as they were, as they needed to cover a LOT of different variations. Not addressing Alistair THE MOST IMPORTANT THING IN THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE more fully could probably have been done better, I agree. Image IPB

I wouldn't expect, say, Zevran to mention it... but, Leliana and Wynne?  Just something like.. "How have you been holding up?".  Just a LITTLE something to recognize it... Although I suppose Wynne would be sort of justified for some "I told you so"ing which likely would result in a new lake in the middle of Denerim or a lot of stabbing depending on the character.

Heh. Yes, no doubt Leliana or Wynne could have mentioned it, you are correct. I have my suspicion, however, that nothing we did could have addressed it ENOUGH for those who were truly heartbroken over what happened -- but I get what you're saying.
