 About 25-50% of the time, the game starts, but then it suddenly minimizes as soon as the Bioware logo video starts. This would be no more than a minor annoyance if it wasn't for the fact that the game usually crashes if I try to maximize it again. Sometimes this happens multiple times before I can launch ME3 successfully. Is there a work around so that the program never does this?

I'm running this on Windows XP Home (32 bit)

I remember AVG used to do this with any game it would kick it out of focus, only when AVG updated did it stop (I chose to uninstall it and use a different AV).

So not sure if it is similar to you or not.

maybe it is happening because sometimes there is a delay between seeing the ME3 tab at the bottom, and the game going fullscreen, so I get bored and clock and drag boxes around on the desktop. Maybe clicking anywhere causes it to start minimized.

Yes that can cause it to lose window focus by clicking everywhere else.
