I just can't seem to figure this out at all, this has left a seriously bad taste in my mouth. Frankly, the entire ending has left me wanting my money back. I actually feel like I've been cheated.

Honestly though, the planet looks a bit like Virmire.

i can't understand it either. i had EDI with on earth, and it's mean that normandy must be near by. and then ... pufff... normandy in mass relay. space magic, i guess.
Yeah, the magical teleporting squadmates. Is this supposed to be a dream or something that Shepard has while he's dying or something? I just can't wrap my head around it. Or what the quarians and turians are going to do stuck on Earth with no food or water? So much non-sense.
Cheers. McBeath.

They were with me on the ground, Garrus and Tali were with me in the tank right before you hit the beam, when did they go back up to the Normandy, and why?

I assume joker was following the full retreat order that was given. That being said, I was devestated when I saw Shepard in the condition he was in.

See, I heard somebody ask "if anybody made it through" and then they said no, there all gone, ect. I thought that the fallback order was for the ground team, not the fleets.
Also, with in system speeds even if Joker tried to outrun the blast from the Crucible wouldn't it take too long to reach the relay?
Cheers. McBeath.

You've got a point. So I guess the retreat order could be taken subjectivley, like the rest of the game...thanks agian Bioware.

But surely the fleet didnt retreat as the normandy was alone being chased by big ball of energy and hackett was having a nice chat with shep minutes before, he didnt sound paniced and he was leading the fleet, or at least the alliance part of it. The normandy part made no sense at all

A little off topic but where is this cinematic in the folder? I can't find the set relating to them crash landing. I found all the different outcomes for London and the after credits part but not the crash landing.

I found out why Joker was "running". When the team making the run for the beam in London to the citadel gets reaper-beamed by Harbinger, you hear hear "oh my god, they're all gone" and a "full retreat" from an Asari when Shepard blacks out.
I assume joker was following the full retreat order that was given. That being said, I was devestated when I saw Shepard in the condition he was in.
The caption says to "fall back to the buliding!". That retreat order was between a "Marine" and "Coats", with Coats being part of the ground team. Therefore that retreat order was only for the Hammer ground team in London.
Any retreat order for the orbiting ships could only have been given by S. Hacket.
