He's pretty funny, but I though they tried to push the "racial equality" thing a bit too hard with the random inclusions of Spanish from time to time. I guess they covered most every other ethnicity, so they figured they needed a lead Hispanic character, and had to make it really obvious that that's what he was supposed to be. I appreciate the attempt at equality, but though I did overall like the character, I did find that aspect of him a bit...jarring, as in it pulled me out of the game because it seemed so bizarre and unncessarily blatant.

No other human character (that I can think of) of any race speaks in any other language or really brings up much about their origin culture, that this one does seems really out of place.

Oddly, I liked that part of him.  I found it really endearing.

I knew Vega was going to be great. It's everyone else on the squad that I can't stand.

If you've ever lived in an area that has a large Hispanic population (in the US atleast) that really is how people talk.

I'm from Florida, and I have quite a few friends are totally "Americanized" without accents or any other ties to their grandparents homeland who still throw the occasional Spanish word into a conversation. It actually made me relate to the character more because he felt more real.

I thought I'd hate him. Typical meathead character that looks like he got lost on the way to Gears of War 3 DLC.

I hate that I actually end up liking him a great deal. The "Lola" things shockingly endearing.

I actually do live in a county that is 70% hispanic, largely due to agriculture. I can't think of one of my friends that talks like that, but then they are probably not the same heritage as those down in Florida.  Irregardless, no other character seems to focus so much on their racial heritage, hundreds of years into the future in a much more open and spread out society, so to me it was just weird that he was the one stand-out that still seemed so tied to his past, unlike the rest of humanity which seemed to have moved on.

Just my opinion is all, but I just felt he was "fake"  with all the random spanish.

I too was surprised at how much I liked our Mr. Vega.

Kinda a pupil for Shep imo.

I was neutral on him initially. Now I take him and EDI everywhere. I think they did a bang up job making him the new dude trying to make sense of his circumstances. He's irrevereant at times, but also is prepared to bring his best.

And I know a lot of people don't like it, but I find the whole being called Lola thing adorable. He and Garrus are like my Shepard's little twin brothers following her around.

I love him. He reminds me of a time when I traveled alone to the east coast. I sat in a train and overheard a pair of women speaking in Puerto Rican Spanish, and although it isn't the Mexican Spanish I'm used to, I suddenly felt homesick.

Especially when he said "bandejo" and some other random expressions that I know without being Hispanic. And the way he says "Sheperrrrrrd". Hehe.

I think Vega is a very weak character. I'd trade him for Wrex or Grunt in a heartbeat.

QFT.  I lived in South Florida for three years, and knew TONS of Hispanic guys and gals like this, too.

I actually really liked him too, I found his humor and flirting appealing for my Fem-Shep in a world where she is overwhelmed with the pressures of being a hero and saving the universe. So when I discovered he was not a romance option, I was very disappointed. But while looking at the romance options on the ME3 wiki I further discovered that we were being 'short-changed' in our options. Male Shep has 8 romance options, 2 of which are male. I have no problems with this; what I do have a problem with is the Fem-Shep has just 5 romance options of which only 2 are males! And to even further reduce that list, Garrus is really only an option if you romance him in ME2. So if you are a hetero Fem-Shep going into ME3 unshackled by a previous relationship from ME1 or ME2, your options for love are down to one only, Kaidan. I have no problems with the gay options in ME3, to each his/her own. I am a hetero female gamer, and am very disappointed with the limited options.

Wow, so that went off forum topic...what was I saying? Oh yea, woo Vega! Now let me have a taste!

Hes heavy on the flirt with FemShep but I still had a great tiem with him. Being commited to Garrus, I just saw it as playful teasing. All his Normand dialogue with Garrus are pure gold by the way.

In the end, I dont regret having Vega aboard one bit.

My brother hates him. I like him.
Probably in the top 3 ME3 Squadmates for me based on character.
Right now I'm doing a run when I'm using him and Ashley whenever possible. The 3 Amigos, the Alliance Soldiers kicking asses and taking names.
