So my copy arrived today and before i even get a chance to play the game and decide for myself if the series has been ruined I run into problems.

I install that piece of crap software that is origins and begin to install the game, gets to 99% stays there for a while then i get an error saying "Error: A redistributable package (PhysX) was not installed succesfully. Setup cannot continue. (1603).

ive looked around the forums and peoploe have similar problem but with different error codes, icve tried everything i can think of updating my graphics card which is an AMD Radeon, tried downloading phhysx and installing outside of origins, uninstalling and reinstalling  both origins and the game itself, tried running the "repair install" through origins, disabled firewall and avg, got the latest windows network updates. Still stuck at 99%

Well technically ATi/AMD GPU's won't use Physx anyway, just software emulation.

So the physx installer should notice this and just not install and send back a confirmation to the game installer that everything is fine.

I know, thats what i was hoping i recently had problems with mafia 2 because of physx so i installed it just so the computer read that it was there and thats worked fine since

Yeah, forcing a physx install was not a cool move from Bioware/EA silly people :P

Only other option I can say is find out what file it needs and get it seperately and install into the Windows/System32/ folder?

Ive found a fix to this problem. The problem for me anyway was caused by physx trying to install over an older version but not properly overwriting the old files, meaning the install was then reading that there was an old version but could not find it to overwrite the files.

this is fixed by completely removing physx, restart your pc.
then go into your registry run=regedit (for windows 7) and browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/ SOFTWARE /Wow6432Node\\AGEIA Technologies\\
if there are any physx related files there delete them all. then restart your pc
then go to D:\\Program Files (x86)\\Origin Games\\Mass Effect 3\\__Installer and install both direct x and physx from the folders there, restart your pc
when you restart origin and hit install it should finish without any errors

Just a heads up to people who have a 32bit Windows, don't look for WOW6432NODE as it won't be there :) Just look for Ageia Technologies folder when you open Software.

So it was all about a previous installation.
