Kind of annoyed after all that pre-war banter, especially in Arrival, that he doesn't say a damn word to you when you get attacked by him at Earth. I was expecting him to at least gloat as he cuts down your people as you run towards the teleporter. Or acknowledge your presence or something. Pretty unReaper like for him not to attempt to destroy your last hope.

I feel that in ME3 the villainy was shifted from the Reapers to the Illusive man. Which is sad, because the Illusive man isn't all that great of a villain. Maybe, with the whole "god controlling the reapers" thing they had happen at the end, they wanted to pretend the Reapers weren't all intelligent machines?

That's really a 180 from ME2. If that's the case, I wonder why they decided to change it? I mean honestly, from ME2 it seemed that the whole goal of the Reapers was self-preservation (aka reproduction in the form of destroying species to make new Reapers). That, in itself, was a perfectly understandable reason for mass genocide.

TL;DR:  Why the hell doesn't Harbinger say anything all game and why was it so necessary to do a 180 and invent a new meaning for the Reapers existence?

Bioware just... doesn't know what they're doing anymore.

Agreed, but if DA2 is any indication they still think they do which is even worse.  It took months for BW to aknowledge that DA2 wasn't the greatest game ever made (even going so far as to blame the fans).  I predict much the same reaction here.

Indeed, bit strange they hyped him up to be the largest reaper of them all and yet that wasn't shown at all. Think the least they could've done was him decimating Sword fleet.. doesn't make any sense for him to go back to Earth to deal with the remaining hammer units.

His scope was not shown nor his power... potential wasted.

Yeah I wrote about this in my alternate ending post: here

The final standoff obviously should have been between Harbinger and Shepard.

Well it makes sense he went back to Earth to deal with the forces trying to get on the Citadel (why were they teleporting bodies onto the Citadel anyway? The Citadel wasn't a harvester). I'm most annoyed by the fact he doesn't say anything to you at all. It's completely counter to his character (yes, the Reapers HAD character at one point).

Very disappointed Harbinger was virtually ignored in this game... in fact almost all of the Reapers were when you think about it. I mean, they are the scourge of the galaxy, and Shepard, their #1 enemy only talks to one of them in the entire game???

Harbinger had so much potential to flesh it out as a clear enemy foil for Shepard, and the chance was totally wasted. Utter shame.

that and they where made of different speices and yet they seemed to have to the same personality. Sovergin had his and Harbenger had his own.

I agree he should have been a boss fight, even if he escapes from the boss fight at the end. Having him taunt you or talking at you while you try to destory him. I mean they have bad!#@ voices.

Also no Thax cannon use??? really? One of the nastiest weapons and yet not used once. Or at least shown??

No, Harbinger didn't say anything to Shepard because he, like all the other Reapers, are just toys for some magical kid that lives in the Citadel.

Crapshoot ending is crapshoot.

I completely agree! Harbinger was shown to be a very personal enemy of Shepard's and then to have him just be another ship in fleet? One other part of the ending I was disappointed with =/

I actually liked that the Reapers remained an aloof, completely malevolent and incomprehensible enemy. It makes them scarier. As individuals, we're beneath their notice. I actually found Harbinger's obsession with taunting Shepard throughout ME2 made him seem less terrifying. If you're so powerful and unassailable, why bother taunting?

I think the fact that Harbinger's voice and "gloating" became a big online fad and joke is what caused Bioware to backtrack on it. They want the Reapers to be taken seriously.

As such he got shafted.
