Isn't "merge" a happy ending?

Except Destroy doesn't destroy the Citadel

It destroys Mass Relays, all synthetic life, thousands of civilizations (reapers)
But the peace won't last.

Er, yes it does.

The only ending which doesn't destroy the citadel is control.

I would think the Destroy ending would be the 'Perfect Ending' since it's the only one where Shepard can survive and requires the most Military Strength.

I still think control is the best ending, well the best from a bad bunch.

Control = Preserve the citadel, preserve the reaper tech, Shepard "ascends" into something greater than a normal human. This is speaking from a Paragon control ending, the Renegade control ending would be very much like The Illusive Man, using the reapers for destruction rather than protection which would maybe be classed as the worst. Would have been nice to have more endings based on if you're Paragon or Renegade, because clearly the intent of decisions would be different depending on you.

At this point, I don't *want* to ascend. I want to fly off somewhere and live out the remaining fifty or sixty years of my character's life in peace and quiet. Hopefully with Liara and some little blue children involved.

Oh, and some therapy. Lord knows Shepard's earned it.

How is that a good ending? There is a very good chance everyone will die in the long run with that outcome.

While I agree the control ending isn't bad. I have to say that the merge ending is the only one that will provide peace with synthetics in the long run. So I gotta go with that one.

By that token, you also shouldn't believe that you were actually going to destroy the reapers if you went for any of them.

You also probably shouldn't have trusted that the prothean schematic was a weapon and not a Reaper trap.

Although I would be amused with an ending ofShepard just stands at the Crucible until dying while the Reapers continue the cycle :).

I got to admit I was pretty suspicious of the Crucible the whole way through. We don't how it works, how to activate or even what it does? Uh huh, well false hope is better than no hope. We find a superweapon in the nick of time left to us by the Protheans? Yeah and we used to think the relays and Citadel were left by the Protheans and that didn't turn out so well...

The Crucible and the Catalyst (until actually meeting it) were classic Macguffin plot devices.

The synthesis ending was is probably the worst of them all.

When I heard the kid talking about it I was just thinking "is this f***ing serious?". Then I youtubed it later and had the same impression.

I mean all the endings suck, but that one actually made me laugh. It would be like watching braveheart and mel gibson started hip-hop dancing with his executioner. It was that ridiculous.

Oh, they're all happy, but Shep dying isn't the problem for me. The problem is they all come out of left field, expose tons of plot holes, give no sense of resolution, and cause more questions than they answer.

Synthesis is the ideal solution to the problem presented by the catalyst.

The thing is you don't know that is the "problem" you are facing until the last 5 minutes of the game and that rubs me the wrong way. Not only that... who the hell is the catalyst? it made the reapers that's not just a minor footnote @_@

Yeah if they had interduced the problem earlier in the game it could have worked out better. I guess they'll have to build the issue up with DLC and other add ons so it makes better sense.
