I posted this in the other spoiler forum but after over an hour with no response I thought I'd try in this forum.
There are two instances so far where the best conversation choices are grayed out. One is the 1st encounter with the Illusive Man and the other is in trying to recruit Dr. Michel. I followed the guide suggestion and asked Dr. Chakwas to remain on the Citadel. When trying to recruit Dr. Michel, all I can get as a response is "I'll think about it" because the best conversation choices to recruit her are grayed out. What do I have to do to have all the conversation choices enabled?
If it is inappropiate to post the same question in the two different spoiler forums let me know. I wasn't sure which one was the best choice for my question.

Probably need to raise your reputation and or paragon/renegade score.

I'm guessing that if the two choices are greyed out then it is because your reputation is not high enough. I didn't try to recruit Dr. Michel though, I stuck with Chakwas as she's been on my ship since ME.
