I finished the game (already on second run) but sadly did not see her (did everything I could and yes she was alive in ME1-2)...

There was another recurring character that got the email shaft, but I can't remember right now.

Honestly, Giana Parasini should have been a squadmate. She's a badass and easily one of the most likable background characters who have any screen time.

I also missed Giana. I loved her character and was holding out for at least a short cameo. What about her research into dark energy that was played up in ME2?

Dark Energy...what Dark Energy...Dark Energy isn't real...they were only codex's and missions about it ... because...Dark Energy is a conspiracy theory...it doesn't exist. Like the Loch Ness monster.

After the kiss in ME2, I expected gianna as a possible romance in ME3. In fact, she was easily the most charming character.
Oh and even Shiala hit on me in ME2, she said after the reaper threat was over or something that we should get together. PSHT.

Are you talking about the asari on virmire or helena blake?
If it's the asari on virmire, I spared her in 1 and 2, then in 3 I got a lettter or something saying she went insane with indoctrination and killed a bunch of people
