Favorite: Dwarf Noble
Do I even have to eplain? Everyone knows how awesome it is.

Worst: Mage
I would say the Dalish Elf origin is the worst but at least that one is over quick. The Mage origin takes FOREVER and it's no less boring and uninspired to me. The Fade sucks and the rest of the origin pretty much has you running back and forth through the same 2 levels of the Circle tower. I also get more of a feeling of being forced down a specific path with that origin than with any other.

The Dalish story doesn't have any notable difference between males and females. Think you're referring to city elf, where the female one is good and the male one is not.

mmh, best so far (i didn't do them all) is dwarf noble, worse is by far human noble, in a 'boring' manner.

The all suck due to a lack of waffles.

City elf at the top of the dung heap and dalish would be at the bottom.

the notable differences he was talking about with the dalish were later on in the story.
the city elf male bad, it just wasnt really awesome like the female. i think it was still good though *shrug*

I've only played through the game once, and that was with the Dalish Elf origin. Seems like I've missed quite a lot then :<

I have to say that, in my opinion, both dwarf origins were the best in the game. The seemed more in depth, and I simply loved the proving arena (more the commoner version than the noble one). It's too bad there are no novels about the lore.

From best to least liked for me:

1. Dwarf Commoner/Dwarf Noble (had to make it a tie)

2. Mage

3. City Elf (female)

4. Dalish Elf (female)

5. Human Noble

I've only tried two so far. Dalish and City Elf.

I started out with the Dalish, but soon deleted him and much thoroughly enjoyed playing as a City Elf.

I tried all of them, just for the sake of trying, my favorites was the human and dwarf nobles. Especially if you play a real royal a.. dwarf noble and order Gorim to speak instead of you.

For the least favorite? Probably Dalish. Just didn't move me like the others.

i think the problem with the dalish, is that unlike the others, where your either saved from a huge tragic event, or you have to go with the wardens to get revenge/a chance at redemption, the dalish is "oh no your sick, well you better come with me, its really your only option, even if you say no"

cause i mean, in all likely hood the dalish elf would have been like "so im going to die? man eff that im gonna go get some wenches, and live it up before this taint eats away at me"

the rest of them seemed more compelling, the dalish was more of an, enh alright, kinda thing.

Best: City Elf.

Runner-Up: Magi.

Worst: Dalish Elf.

The city elf origin is quite emotional, and badass (especially if you're playing a female elf). And you can just feel the effort that went into making the Magi origin. The Dalish is just plain dull.

i disliked the city elf one because 1 smack to the face and you go down, i mean really.

i liked the dwarf commoner origin story best i think, then dwarf noble, followed by the human, then dalish elf, then mage, then city elf in last.

My rankings

1. City Elf - Very dark and shows just how evil humans can be
2. Dwarf Commoner - Interesting to see how the lowest form of dwarf can raise all the way
3. Human Noble - Good but a bit short maybe the shortest origin?
4. Mage - Great loot but pales in comparison to the above origins
5. Dalish Elf - Lackluster at best
6. Dwarf Noble - so damn cheesy with the plot....(dont get me wrong though gorrim is awesome!)

Top: Dwarf Commoner (didn't like Dwarf noble too much - was too cliche. Saw the Behlen thing coming a mile away.)

Worst: Human Noble - Incredible snoozefest - I just didn't feel attached to any of the NPCs. Kept asking myself why my character even cares. Also killing rats is so 1999....

I personally loved the human noble origin. It matched perfectly with the backstory of a roleplaying and story character I made a good while before the game was even announced.

Only difference being it happened after her training instead of when she was a young child like my original backstory

Dwarf Noble

City Elf (Mainly due to the male/female differences)

Dwarf Commoner (If not for the knife ears differences, this'd be second 'best')

Mage

Human Noble (I'm interchangable with mage - So damned clichéd)

Dalish Scum (No feeling to it. No depth).

Dwarf Noble is best.

Dwarf Commoner, Dalish Elf, Mage, and City Elf are similar level for me.

Human Noble is most predictable but pulls at the heartstrings the best.

Best all over : Dwarf Noble

Transitions best to Grey Warden-dom : Dalish Elf

Elicits Strongest Emotion: Dwarf Noble and Human Noble

Most Intriguing Difference when playing as Female or Male: City Elf

The Origin that Hints at a cooler aspects of the world: Mage (Fade aside the rest of the origin is kinda garbage)

You know I would like the City Elf origin more if the humans didn't seem so comically evil.

paraphrasing " WE gonna have a party" : main villain

sidekick bafoons "Hahaha" as evil as possible,

I happen to agree also that the Dalish was the weakest. Seems an overwhelming opinion. It started off as promising, but declined from there. Perhaps a patch making it more intereting then?

Anyway yeah Female City Elf was the best in the sense of moving your character into the story. Your character also had the best scenes of the origins.

Saving grace to the mage story was that it was not as cliche as the rest.

Dwarven commoner was good, but hard to suspend the belief. Dwarven Noble was the biggest cliche, but was otherwise very fun to play. A dwarven threesome is an origional thought. But would have prefered it with cousin love in City Elf :D ( need twisted smiley )

My favorite was the mage. But I also enjoyed city elf a lot.

I thought Dalish elf was absolutely terrible for a variety of reasons that extend even past the origin story itself.

Honestly, Dwarf Noble was okay, but very predictable. I disliked it mainly because of the end how you were "Very popular" and suddenly nobody wants to look at you and turns away from your side.

well honestly the killing of the rats WAS meant as a joke...hence your buddy's (can't think of his name right now...damnit) comment on the matter.

or in other words it's a throwback to Baldur's Gate 1 where you went into the dwarves shop to kill the rats.

it wasn't meant to be serious
