Please be more aware of what you're typing in a "NO SPOILERS ALLOWED" forum. I didn't know about this, and now it won't be nearly as interesting when I come to this point in my game.

The mage origin was such a horrible disappointment that I'm going to have to nominate that for worst. You spend the whole origin doing nothing but piddy errands for other people. I never expected much out of the hated Dalish origin so it didn't manage to disappoint me to the same degree.

The best origins are not so surprisingly the dwarven ones.

Best origin is for me the City elf. The worst was without a doubt the mage one, Jowan is a terrible character(and not one who I'd like to have as a friend).

City elf was my favorite (as a female), mage my least favorite (it's Jowan's prologue, not yours).

Liked all of them though, in particular both noble origins surprised me by how good they were, though the noble human origin does not integrate back into the larger campaign properly in my opinion.

Human noble merges nicely towards the end of the story. Looking back I agree that the mage origin told more about Jowan then your own person, basicly you were kicked out because of him.

I have only played human noble, city elf and magi.

So far my favorite is human noble, it puts you into a certain mindset after you're done with the origin, city elf comes extremely close though.

I thought magi was a little boring... I like playing as a mage, the Fade was cool, but it pales a little in comparison to the other origins.

My worst so far is the Dwarf Noble, it was far too predictable and I ended up hating it because i was forced to fall for the [plot line here] and not be able to do anything about it. If they hadn't made the voice work and mannerisms of the characters so obvious it would have been much more enjoyable (same goes for Loghain, that was an easy one to see coming too).

I've done all 6 Origins, always as a female character. I felt the most emotional pull with my City Elf Warrior, seconded by my Human Noble Warrior. Both women had compelling, very emotional stories. I felt as if I truly understood their motivations, their vulnerabilities and their bewilderment in how their stories unfolded. Both were adrenaline-filled openings. By the time those openings were done, I was determined to see these women succeed.

I finished the game with the Human and am currently working on finishing with the City Elf.

As far as my least connected, it's a tossup between my Dalish rogue and my Human Mage. They just weren't as compelling as the City Elf and Human Noble. I wasn't moved at all by their plights.

My Dwarven Commoner Rogue earned more sympathy from me than did my Dwarven Noble Warrior but still, I wasn't totally invested in either of their stories.

I wonder if I'd feel differently about the openings had I played male characters?

As a side note, I like how the game integrates all the beginning stories into the overall plot. It's a nice touch to see someone who played a big part in my Human Noble's origin show up further down the road in my City Elf's experience. Ties them all together and, for me, helps to make it feel more like a real world with real, intersecting stories.

Yes, I love how no matter which origin story you choose, you can find clear evidence that the other origin stories actually happened. Such as going into the dwarf city and hearing some gossip about the castless origin, then the people talking to you about the dwarf noble origin events.
