I think I may have figured out why our EMS scores are lower than you'd expect.

Found another way to raise it. Go to Spectre console on 2nd floor of Citadel. Authorize military requests such as creating a citadel rebel force. That increased my EMS a lot.
Yes, but it doesn't do it enough and it does nothing for your galactic readiness.

are the war assets percentages relayable? meaning say I find 2 assets in a system and it says "war assets 100%" under the system's name am I really done or shouldI explore more and look on every planet by entering the atmosphere?
If the system (or cluster) says 100% then you are done.

I did a completionist full exploration, all side quest and talk to everyone run and I got up to around 7000. Of course my galactic readiness level was 50% so it only counted for 3500 bah.
500 short of the "best ending"

WTF. My total military strength went up to like 5200 from 4200.... but my effective military is still 2700.... All I have left to do is N7 communications (final N7 quest) and Illusive Man base... Does that mean if I attack reapers we lose?
Not at all. It does mean you can't get the 'easter egg' "Shep survives" option but that only applies if you take the "destroy" option anyway.

Same for me I was at about 3600ish. It was an import save that had ME1 and ME2 data, everyone saved. 100% Paragon. I don't get how to get over 4000 without playing multiplayer.

I've been exploring everything and listening to ever conversation and talking to everyone. My war assets are pretty high.
Effective or Total? My total is 7000+ my effective is 3500+.

4000 is needed for optimal and I never saw anyway to get 350 more.

The info tab for the War Assets said my changes were even they could go either way. Truthfully Hammer and Sword seem to get wiped out and you barely see any use of the alien forces you recruited and spent 90% of the game getting... Sigh lack of continuity on that.

yeah that confuses me. Do I need 5000 war assets or 5000 effective readiness?

You need an EFFECTIVE readiness of 4000 if you can "save Anderson", 5000 if you can't.
I've explored the galaxy so much. I guess i'll be forced to play multiplayer. I like the multiplayer but I would rather do this in game. I'm 33 hours in trying to do as many side quests as possible but a lot of them are really glitchy.
I love this game so much, and I don't even want to see the end. I feel so frustrated that such a great game was ablolutely ruined for me. Some people liked them, but so many people hated them. I don't want to go through all this effort again just to be slapped in the face with an ending that takes all my hard work away.

Just out of curiosity, did you do the side missions the first time you ever got them? (i.e. Overhearing side-missions from random NPCs on the Citadel ASAP whenever applicable?)

Yes I did, and a lot of them are glitched. I'm still upset about the hanar deplomacy one. I wanted to do that one really bad.
