Where is my happy ending?

I love the ending, it and the game were artistic masterpieces.
But I have been waiting since Mass Effect 1 for a happy ending. My Shepard would raise a family with Liara and everything would be peaceful.
Thanks for taking my emotions and dreams and stomping on them BioWare.
Sincerely,
Guy who will never be emotionally okay ever again

No there is no happy ending the choices you made, hours you put into the game have no effect on the ending. There is always the three choices you face no matter what and they are become the reapers, synthesis, and destroy all synthetics.
Actually it's even worse than that. There is really only one choice except for the colors of the relays when they go up in smoke. Other than that, nothing you do matters.

The relays and citadel are preserved in Control, buddy.

No they aren't 'Buddy'. Play that ending again and you will clearly see that they are destroyed even in "control". I have played all three endings in the space of a half hour on the same basic game, and other than the colored lights (and some minor but interesting details about Joker and EDI in the merge ending), they are identical.

I do think the choices matter in game, but not when it comes to the ending.

Assuming they are, why did the normandy crash?

Nope. Assuming you didn't flub your save, the Citadel doesn't explode and the relays only overload, they do not experience an explosion like in red or green. Go check again.

There you go. :3 The entire explosion scene is deleted and the citadel doesn't flower.

They wouldn't have cut the explosions if they intended that effect. It's not identical.

I played all three ending just this morning and the relays are DEFINATELY destroyed in all three. In fact the footage is identical save only for the colors. I am sorry but you are wrong.

I am sorry but you are wrong. I know I didn't "flub" the save because it was the same save-game that gave me the Merge option too, and if you have enough EMS for 'merge' then earth always lives, but the relays DEFINATELY explode in "control".

Then you flubbed your save. They overload in Control. They 'lose pieces', but they aren't destroyed. Nothing the controlled reapers cannot fix.

Shepard dead, alive, a reaper, it doesn't matter. The Relays no longer work and everyone is stuck in the Sol system, and your team is stranded on some strange world with no explanation of why they're there, or if they ever escape.
It's always going to be a bittersweet plothole ending.

I really didn't know how vested I was in the characters until I saw my first choice of the ending for synthesis. Felt like little girl when I start to cry. So Yea, I am onboard with the "Where the **** is my Happy ending"

It is not identical. Control with "maximum points" leaves the Citadel closing but intact.
I sure didn't see that, and there is absolutely no mention of this in any site save this one. I saw the SAME ending with different colors, ie the Relays are toast no matter what.
