So someone on reddit brought this screenshot up:
http://i.imgur.com/XLdUE.jpg

They are interpreting it as the idea that you have to beat it a third time to get the ending (vague phrasing, so it's almost open to interpretation) OR you have to beat it twice.

Has anyone done either? And sorry if this has already been brought up in detail - I've seen references to it before but not in a direct way like this.

I guess it's forbidden - here's the text and I'll save the pic somewhere else asap

"After beaing the game once, starting a New Game + opens new possibilities. A secret ending is also available to players who complete the game a second time."

Click on the address bar and click enter again, it happens a lot.

And no one has datamined anything that supports that claim.

I remember seeing a screenshot of the guide, and frankly I'm not sure we should put much stock into it. People have already data mined the game and all the movies within it, and they found nothing to support this. Plus, Prima has a long history with putting downright lies and misinformation in their guides.

When they mean secret ending there is an Easter egg after the credits. Its called the Stargazer. It doesn't change the ending you already got just adds to it....thousands of years in the future. One of the voices is Buzz Aldrin. I'd rather they have used the money for that to just have made the endings better.

And to be totally frank as a PC player I can just play all the pre-rendered cutscenes whenever I want from the Bioware directory.  There are no other endings.

What is the stargazer scene specifically?

Crap...forgot my optimism then...playthrough twice is probably for those who didn't import from ME2...cause I got stargazer first shot.

I got the stargazer scene only after beating it once.

Did you import a Shepard?

This is my concern - so it's not really the secret ending then?

And what is the scene exactly? I'm not entirely sure. I've yet to beat the game and watch all the endings (but I know of them all)!

Since you asked it is a scene where you see a snowy vista with a grandfather and his son.  They are too far away but it is assumed they are human.  The son is asking about "the Shepard" and did that all really happen "meaning everything we just played".  Grandfather says yes but the details are lost in time as it happened so very long ago.  Child says he wants to go to the stars and asks what he will find there.  Grandfather says many different races.

Basically its a premise that what Shepard did assured civilization survived in the far and distant future.  We do not go on to destory each other.  I still would have prefered more exposition in the current time period though.

And if you import a ME2 save it counts as playing it twice.

Thank you - I assumed that was the stargazer scene. Kind of comforting, I guess. Prima guide is dumb and vague.

... as if the bad endings weren't enough, they had to add a bad secret ending.

My little brother played default Shepard sans import, and had the stargazer scene after the credits. Don't think that's what they were referencing.

The stargazer scene isn't caused by importing the prejek paddlefish. What do they do?

If there is a secret ending, it's not the stargazer or "shepard lives" variant of the red ending, nor does it have any pre-rendered cinematics in the usual place. We won't know until somebody does a third playthrough.

it's amusing to see every gaming site with a ME3 guide saying there's a NG+ ending so either

a) they ripped off the official guide without checking ( and we know prima guides aren't 100% correct) or
B) Bioware lied (assuming they went straight to the source to write the guide) or
c) gamers are totally wrong

guess I'll find out whenever I bother to do a NG+

I went through the bik files there is a 10 sec video called "End03_Shepard_Alive_Fem.bik" plus the male version.

All it shows is a body in charred armor with N7 Dog tags and right before the end of the clip the chest moves as if take a breath. If that is all there is for secret ending I'm not gonna bother.

I don't see that file playing with the blue or green ending since Shepard gets vaporized in those endings.
