1. Does it help to promote a variety of characters, or if I just have a million vanguard and nothing else, does it make no difference?
Answer: You get 75 War assets in the campaign per promotion. class type doesnt matter they're all counted as a generic "N7 spec ops"
2. When I do promote and start over at lvl 1 (I presume), do all of the races in that class get reset to 1?
Answer:
Indeed all Races get reset to Level 1, or more specific, the whole class gets reset.
3. Upon promoting a character, do I get to keep anything that would make the leveling process easier? An adept 1-10 can be annoying and it would be nice to know that I wouldn't have to worry about those levels much.
Answer: You don't keep anything besides the Weapons+Mods and Items and of course Customization options
4. Can I promote a class infinitely and what is the benefit to be promoting a, for example, Vanguard 5 times over?
Answer:
As far as I can tell, and from previous Bioware statemtents, there's no limit on how many times you can promote a given class, but I dont see any special advantages for class diversity.
5. When a class is promoted, do all of the names for that class get reset as well?
Answer: Yes. The only thing that you keep after promoting is items, races, and customization options.
6. Could you form 0 alliances during the single player optional missions and still max out the military resources from promotions?
Answer: Absolutely. This would be extremely time consuming however as the amount of resource score required to hit a "full bar" is 3k points and you only get 75 points for a promotion.
7. Will promoting an MP character give you a portrait on the social.bioware.com forums as a war asset portrait? If so, is it just the promoted character or all characters of that class?
8. Does a promotion in MP transfer to all current and future SP characters?
Answer: Yes. In fact, the only way to avoid having those points is keeping your SP character offline at all times.
9. Does promoting allow me to raise my N7 ranking above 120?
Answer: Yes. If you are attempting to raise your N7 ranking above 120 (all 6 classes capped at lvl 20), you will have to promote a class and by doing this effectively raise your cap 20 more points. Additionally, the act of promoting a class gives you 10 N7 points right out of the gate.
If anyone else can think of any good questions to ask, I will edit this post at the top. Let me know what you think! The real question over all of this though, is asking the question of is there really any strategy to promoting your characters?
Thanks to all contributors who submitted questions and answers alike.
