I found normal to be too easy so I put it up to hardcore, regular packs I still breeze through, but the circular room at the biotic student academy (think its grissom academy) was fricking tough as a vanguard fully specced into charge, nova, melee and with the reckoner knight armor (more melee damage). Engineers and turrets... Turrets... They do so much damage its unbelievable. Anyway that is the only room I haven't been able to, just about, charge, melee, nova, nova, charge, melee etc in :P I like the difficulty, eventhough it sometimes seems like the AI can shoot through walls :(.

Man, I just did that mission last night.  Almost threw my remote at my television.

The turrets in this game are just evil....lol...

If you maximize your squad abilities for Overload, Fire Related or Warp, It makes things a lot easier. I'm assuming competence, but in case anyones unaware. ME2 knowledge of what powers affect which enemy defense has proven to be the biggest advantage.

Also using push back stuff is key too. Singularity, Carnage and Concussive shot to be specific.

vanguard insanity is ridiculously easy. every now and then i run into an area where i die a few times, but otherwise charge/nova has not failed me yet

Are you kidding me, im scared ****less to use nova, the damn thing drains my barrier and leaves me more helpless then a turtle on its back.

Im just about done the entire game on
insanity, and I haven't experienced any part where the difficulty even
came close to comparing to the collector ship, or horizon or virmire on
insanity.

Weird, I breazed threw those parts. This game is kicking my ass for some reason, maybe it's the nonstop waves of baddys(oh god the DA2 flashbackls).

Huh odd, I will say the rest of the game has been harder then the average of me1/2, i just still have bad memoires of those listed parts. I dont think ive died more than twice on any one part in this game though. It it means anything im talking about this all from the persepctive of an infiltrator.

Ah I'm looking at it from soldier and vanguard. I swear charge does nothing but get me killed anymore.

I played it on Insanity on my first play through as a Adept and blew through the game with only a few issues. The only time I had trouble are when there were those sword wielding things and Marauders out at the same time. Other than this, game was super duper easy.

Really? On normal? I found combat pretty easy so far. I'm playing as a vanguard btw.

I'm playing as a biotic and haven't had much trouble.

I keep my weight down so I have a really short cooldown on powers.

playing on normal as an adept....

Im at level 15 and the game is pretty hard....

Ive never used adept before and thought it would be cool to play as one.... my broken controller says otherwise....

Played it on hardcore, normal was no challenge at all.
My consistent team was:
Me engineer, which I find to be the single best class. Single weapon so my cooldowns where at 200%
Vega: Buff bot, but carnage and frag grenade do a ton of damage too.
Liara: Singularity + stasis, nothing ever got close.

No I don't agree. Not very far in but initial impression is that on insanity for each it is easier than ME2 (leaving aside certain exploits like the mattock and stasis).

Normal isn't hard if you import a level 30 character. The only time I had a problem was when the game continuously spawned Brutes over and over.

I have this same problem. It seems enemies are bunched together moreso than in ME 1&2.  I'm starting to think that Charge is not the best tactic indoors.

Even on Insanity, I don't find it to be too challenging as long as I don't rush into the enemies. Also, there are lower difficulty settings and I can't imagine the easiest setting being "hard".

So, does it seem you squad mates have better AI in ME3?

Nope, I usualy find my team 3 rooms back just standing around. I yell at them to come to me and they don't, I tell them to go to a location and they till stay in the back room, it's really annoying.

After combat though they don't have a probelm finding their way to were I am, bunch of cowards.

On normal??? What? It's not that hard. I played the game on insanity. It was hard, but not THAT hard. It wasn't so hard that I wanted to turn off the game. I didn't die much. Except for the last mission. I got a little frustrated though.

I wouldn't say ridiculously hard, but they have ramped up the difficulty and AI. The enemies will flank etc. I find that I am constantly needing to change up my tactics (you can no longer just sit behind cover forever) They start throwing smoke and frag grenades to flush you out. I think the combat in Mass 3 is much more fun than in the two previous games.

Disagree. Vanguard with only the N7 Hurricane SMG has been easy so far. Maybe very late into the game will change that opinion.

Not on normal..

I cannot forsee any scenario where my Vanguard could be killed unless I just stopped playing entirely. Otherwise Charge keeps completely shielded as long as there is still something left to kill.

Normal was ridiculously easy with an import so I turned it up to hardcore. Much for enjoyable now. Some parts give a challenge, especially Cerberus.

as an engineer on default difficulty, i would say yeah, its tougher than the previous 2 games.. but mainly its just because the AI actually knows how to flank and surround your party in 3. so im ok with it.

The AI isn't typically intelligent enough to counter a flank, or change positions once they've been flanked. It would be a greater challenge if they could assist one another, and as they bantered between themselves (Cerberus) they actually did what they were saying.

I would have always assumed Cerberus under heavy fire would use blind firing techniques. I wouldn't personally, but they're so friggin rich they can afford the extra heatsinks.

Fighting Reaper forces has given me the most challenge (SP AND MP) while Cerberus is marginal and the Geth are.. dare I say lacking.

Just remember to always have a biotic, a physical combat specialist, and a tech specialist in your team and you'll overcome just about anything.  (Soldier  Concussive shot on a flailing burning enemy is  an EPIC way to end a fight.)

But here's some tips:

An enemy under the affects of biotics can be detonated by Warp.
An enemy under Frost fire or Neural shock can be detonated by concussive shot.

Fire and freezing attacks are a godsend against armor and "Fleshies"
Disruptor and Overload can and will stun an enemy giving you precious time to fall back if needed.  They're also extremely effective against shields and synthetics (Geth and some reapers are fleshier than others)

Everything is effective against barriers, but using overload/concussive will knock down a phantom.

Combat based:  Try to offset your own personal ammo with a different ammo from that of your squad.  Give your squad Incindary/warp/Armor piercing and give yourself Freezing or Disruptor.

Snipers:  Aim for the sword.

Engineers:  Your drone is your friend.  It will buy you precious seconds while you concoct an evil scheme.

Vanguards:  Don't forget about your team.  You can do a lot on your own, but you cant revive yourself more than twice in MP, and death is permanent in SP.

Unity (first aid)  will heal all health damage.

Pretty much my experience, but I started on Hardcore.  I am looking forward to Insanity.
