Infiltrator with a sniper rifle and cloak is so op. almost done with the game and 3 deaths total. Also, mail slot is a funny achievement.

I play on normal. But after about 7 hours i got to a part of the game that almost made me quit. I died countless of times. Tried the same part for about 1 hour. Then i realized the game had pus the difficulty on insanity for some reason. Turn it back to normal and that part was a cakewalk. :P

It really depends on your team structure. if you have a well balanced team with appropriate character builds, the game can be pretty easy.

I've got a suit of powered armor! That crap should be built in. <_<

So far I would say its more challenging than normal on ME2, but easier that ME2 insanity. I've been running a high risk vanguard, and I've only been KO'd 2-3 times. This is on an imported char, however.

normal is pretty easy but edi and javik are about unstoppable edi with fully evolved overload and incinerate javik with fully evolved dark channel and a bit of lift grenade.

I don't think hard is even the word for it. Frustratingly mechanic is more like it.
I think they made the campaign way too difficult to figure out. I am doing every single side mission and main mission and my galaxy readiness is only at 50%?
I have a very bad feeling that even after doing all of the missions successfully I will still lose. If that is the case I will want my money back. I understand the whole scenario is supposed to look impossible, but honestly its starting to get to the point of hopeless. I haven't finished the game yet, but I got a feeling that its not going to be a good ending.

As for the combat. For an adept playing on normal and having played both ME1 and 2 I am finding the ability to stay alive very very difficult.
That mission "The Bomb" nearly made me throw my keyboard out of the door. Its not the fact that the actual AI is difficult. Its just the fact that cerberus chronies never seem to die and there are waves after waves of them. Its maddening. Then they farkin hit you from every direction and you don't even know where its coming from.
Then your companions AI are a bunch of idiots by comparison to the enemy AI, I mean find some cover FFS.

I am finding the best and only strategy is flanking the enemy. It seems be about the only way to really have a chance. Beyond that, facing the enemy straight up or running in with shotguns blazing seems to be like the collector base mission. Suicide.

The galaxy readiness is only affected by MP. It's just a multiplier for your war assets that you pick up. You don't need to play the MP to get the best result. Don't even start. It just gives you a boost. Flanking is a common & reliable military strategy. That surprises you?

i just think the enemies can handle a lot of bullets before they die. at times i have to shoot like half a mag in to one guy. and i mean simple enemies, not the big once. and i think too many enemies come at once. cerberus sure has lots of guys to spear.
but otherwise, i proceed well.

I haven't had any problems on normal. I beat ME1 on insanity, ME2's insanity was too frustrating on Horizon so I went down to veteran (which I probably could've bumped up to hardcore), playing ME3 on normal. It's rare when I run into trouble. But I don't care right now because I just want to have fun with the game. Too much challenge when I'm first playing through a game frustrates me.

My first playthrough on hardcore. I've learned enough from the demo when it comes to ME3 combat. Sometimes I turn in down to Normal when It gets to hard; but I try not to. Need to get myself ready for insanity.

So, does it seem you squad mates have better AI in ME3?

Nope, I usualy find my team 3 rooms back just standing around. I yell at them to come to me and they don't, I tell them to go to a location and they till stay in the back room, it's really annoying.

After combat though they don't have a probelm finding their way to were I am, bunch of cowards.

i dont have this issue, they are far better than the one in me2. always in cover, their try to flank, they rarely die..

Hmmm NOPE, finished the game on normal, only died 3 times either by one of those Krogan reaper monsters or Asari reaper monsters.

Take ****in cover and wait for your shot. Also nothing can beat the GRAAL shotgun, nothing. Just crank that **** up and you destroy everything with it, even from long distances, it's a sniper shotgun.

I think it depends of the weapons you use.

For instance, take the Mars mission :

Infiltrator with the Mantis sniper, everything dies easily even on Insanity.
Switch to the starting SMG (do not remember the name : the one who fires only 3 bullets at a time) and it becames a lot harder, even just on normal.

Snipers are just overpowered (but it's cool :P).

Then you must be playing it wrong. I had started on Insanity and its probably slightly easier than ME2 was. Maybe its because I am using an imported Shep. I don't know what starting from scratch might be like.
My adept barely ever fires her gun.... just lift/throw.. lift/throw
Still playing MP for 3 weeks probably geared me up for the faster pace.

Been playing on normal for my first playthrough and its insanely easy.

Granted i'm an infiltrator. Not sure how higher difficulties are in this game, but for normal its about as overpowered as it gets. If I have view of a spawnpoint (guys jumping out of a vehicle) they are all dead before they have a chance to fire a bullet.

Even if something actually gets to shoot at you, cloak has such a stupidly low cooldown that they will be dead before it wears off.

I found normal to be too easy so I put it up to hardcore, regular packs I still breeze through, but the circular room at the biotic student academy (think its grissom academy) was fricking tough as a vanguard fully specced into charge, nova, melee and with the reckoner knight armor (more melee damage). Engineers and turrets... Turrets... They do so much damage its unbelievable. Anyway that is the only room I haven't been able to, just about, charge, melee, nova, nova, charge, melee etc in :P I like the difficulty, eventhough it sometimes seems like the AI can shoot through walls :(.

Wow, I had the same exp yesterday. but my mistaka as an infiltrator was to bring EDI on a mission to try her out. Shes good in stripping down barriers but dies quickly... I tried that room with pond/lake at least a dozen times always died just outside the door :( - then I got pissed and serious - killed 'em all 'myself' not relying on squad AI.

I imported my infiltrator... TBH it wasn't hard at all for me... But games are easy when you can fly through the game killing most enemies with 1 headshot... Abusing the 3 shot clips featured on a few of the sniper rifles...  At one point I was actually so bored and started paying attention to Cortez and the combat dialogue.. I ended up turning the game sounds off due to irritation.  Thats a first for me during any ME game...

Been a bit too easy on insanity imo, I have usually one death a level due to something stupid or ignorance of the map.

Just a quick tip for dealing with Guardians and don't have pull:
Armor-piercing ammo goes through Guardian's shields.

Strange, playing on hardcore and not finding it particularly challenging. not even close to horizon on insanity in me2
but then again playing as a vanguard, they are sort of OP in me3.
only some cerberus fights are a bit annoying (like the one in grissom academy) and only because i have to play it conservatively and not charge mindlessly.

I've been playing on Casual, the same difficulty setting I used in ME1 and ME2, and I'm not that far into the game yet, but I haven't noticed a difference. My battle tactics (Sentinel, keep tech armor up, rush into battle, hit stuff with biotics or Overload, and then finish it off with shotgun) are exactly the same as they were in ME2. I've only gotten Shepard killed once so far, and that was a technical problem - Shepard dodge-rolled in place instead of taking cover from something that was shooting missiles at her.

I was worried the combat would be hard this time around, but I'm not having any trouble on the second-lowest difficulty (with the easiest one being Story mode).
