Just when't in the Codex, and I was listining to the Harbinger part. They say he is the oldest and biggest? :o!

Does this mean he is the very first Reaper?

And yet we don't get to learn ANYTHING about it in the game. Ok, my journey from a ME fan to a ME hater is now complete. Rofl. Not even George Lucas succeded with such a thing with the new SW movies.

Yeah, the only part we will see Harbinger is somewhere in the end, when you run towards the conduit :|

I'm also wondering who this TIM is that some people tell about, is it the child?
What I noticed is that the child at the end sayed:
''We created the cycle'' who created the cycle? yes Reapers, but for some reason that sentence hides something bigger.

TIM = The Illusive Man

I'm almost certain that being only took child form to appeal and talk to Shepard, whatever it is, isn't naturally appearing as a child.

And I don't think the Repears created the cycle, they are the cycle created by this entity.

It's just a big, stupid AI program that for all it's size can't process more then 3 outcomes to a universe with infinite possibilities. In other words, someone screwed up millions of years ago with a bugged VI on the citadel to make coffee, he got mad and killed all organics forever and ever. That makes more sense then this garbage.

More on topic - No Harbinger banter was another real let down... you don't even see him.

While I agree it was kind of lame you never get to speak to him, he shoots you at the end of the game before you make it to the conduit.  Then he takes off thinking you all died.

I respect that he didn't waste his time talking when the chips are down. He just popped up and swatted your entire squad down like flies. If he'd been gloating while doing it, he'd have sounded petty.

Well we see Harbinger since he's the guy that takes out the Hammer forces at the end.

You can tell by the 4 legs, glowing orange eyes and massive beams.

Actually about the Catalyst, it only had ONE solution.
*Continue the cycle.*

But the point was to wait and see, until one cycle FINALLY gets it right (thanks Shepard), then the solution becomes:
*Shepard, if you survive, become the new Catalyst and guide the control over the cycle.*

But Shepard is Shepard and we-killy-Reapers, so it adds in:
*New Catalyst*
and
*Destroy all Reapers*

After exposure to Shepard and the Crucible (remember that this is only possible if you do things like keep the Collector base and/or have a high amount of war assets = contributing species adding to the Crucible), it realizes a new solution that is possible now, Synthesis! You can choose to agree with it, or revert to the original plan of KILLA-ALLA-REAPERA, or to sympathize with TIM's possible original intent (before his insanty & indoctrination) and control the Reapers.

So yes, there's choice, and it makes sense. It's just presented damn poorly, and offers very little closure for fans. I think this is partially intentful, as Bioware MAY actually want to convert ME3 final saves for a ME4, reflecting the results of the 3 overall endings (technically 7 endings, etc).

Why make Harbinger different from all the other Reapers, only to ignore him completely until the end when he gets the obligatory cliche of "putting our valiant hero near death". He should have been the final boss IMO. Just seems so dumb to ignore him completely until the end.

Kinda nitpicky, but I blew up the Collecter base, but still had 5k strenght and 100% effectiveness from  an import game and it gave me all three choices, It seems liek all three are availeble provided you ahve enough war assets/on an imported save.
As for the ending itself, the way I saw it, the Catalyst saw that the cycle was ending, and Shep would be the oen to choose HOW it ends, Reapers blown up, reapers controlled, OR we have synthesis and reapers....decide to go have tea.
