Not sure why people are upset over the endings

died. I have been playing the whole game assuming he would die at the end....
Why did I think this? EA/Bioware all but confirmed that Sheppard was going to
die months before the game even came out. They said many times "This is
not the end of the mass effect universe, but is the end of the Sheppard
saga." When they said end of the Sheppard line I knew Shep was dead. Not
sure why this shocked so many people.
The only thing I had an issue with was the destruction of
the Mass Relays. I was hoping in an upcoming Mass Effect game to be able to
play as another race Krogan, Turrian, etc... I was figuring Mass Effect 4 would
be how about how the races will rebuild and what they will do without Sheppard.
It looks like I won't get that chance but oh well.
I thought the ending was not all that bad. I chose the
rewrite DNA one. Sure I thought it was cheesy to have Joker and EDI on a remote
planet somewhere holding hands. Ending a trilogy is always difficult, I did not
think Return of Jedi had a good ending and that was a happy one. I am happy
Sheppard gets killed off and I am happy his story is over.
I thought 3 games with this one guy was enough. I would have
loved to have played a different race and experienced other perspectives. Also
I think the series can go in two directions from here. Have the next mass effect take place prior to
the events of Mass Effect 1. Maybe playing during the Krogan rebellion. They
could also use the First Contact War as a time frame. The other direction
although I think would be hard to make a story about would be after Mass Effect
3. Not sure what type of game that would be maybe a Civ type game where you
build huts on a remote planet. (That was a joke).
Overall I am happy with how the series ended. I
went into the game knowing full well Sheppard was going to die. I think some
people had expected him to live.

The ideology behind this game according to Bioware has been you choose your own ending/story. But all we got at the end was a face palm cause none of our choices really mattered. The ending takes nothing into account. People waited 5 years for the ending of Mass Effect. Is that really the ending that justifies 5 years of waiting. 3 choices that are basically the same. In end nothing is explained there is no closure.
Other people have made other comments in ending forums go read those. shepard dying or not is definitally not the main issue. But why shouldn't fans be allowed to see sherpard live and have happy ending with his crew mates. They have waited 5 years.
On Personal note the ME3 completely destroyed any replay value of the game. Cause no matter what I do, I destroy the human race and some the reapers win in some form or some way.

Anyway, the ending will make sense for most people eventually. The problem a lot of people are having facing it, is that it springs on you a decision that is supposed to affect the galaxy for thousands of years, but also considering the drastic implications it has on your current life, friends and civilization. For some people, they feel like this enormous decision nullifies everything they've done in the past games (rightfully, of course). Eventually people will come to accept it...

I think you should read comments in the ending section, other people make alot of good comments. and major issues with the ending. Shepard dying or not is not the main issue. The issue is no matter what Shepard does he destroys humanity and the mass effect universe. Not the end of the mass effect? Are you kidding? The Mass Relays are the key components behind the Mass Effect universe. Will you still call it an amusement park with out any rides or features?

Agreed. Shepard's death is not the issue; the issue is whether Shepard dies because of my choice. In the same way, a lack of Disney-like happy ending is not the issue; the issue is that there is not even such an option in spite of my efforts in the past 5 years.
