Ser Cauthrien

Was I the only one disappointed with how Ser Cauthrien was handled? When I first saw her in the cut-scene of Loghain's retreat at Ostagar, I thought she might end up turning against him. But it seems she either drank the kool-aid or her sense of honor is too much to do anything other than say he maybe killed king Cailan.
Plus shes hot, though she does drop a nice sword

I really like this character, but she is so unbearably underused.
I couldn't bear it if she was used more honestly, she comes across as a complete zealot/sycophant for Loghain. Her attitude and general superiority issues made me forgo the persuade option (I could've easily convinced her to stand down) because I really just wanted the satisfaction of lopping her head off in the end.
Call me spiteful but I can't stand the characters that were actually at Ostagar and still bought into Loghain's lies.

The lines she gives if you convince her to allow you to step into the landsmeet is really well said. It shows how difficult it was for her to say that Loghain must be stopped, since she probably felt like she was backstabbing her savior.

LOL I have to agree with you completely here. By the time I got to that point, I just wanted to dish out some punishment to those that so fanatically served loghain.
After objecting to the retreat, I was disappointed to see her stay with loghain and even become his fanatical attack dog.

She could have been a companion who would give us a more positive perspective on Loghain. Or a point of contact with Loghain during the mid game.

I like her somehow, but honestly, being lectured about honour and duty by the one who actually saw first-hand the treason of Loghain was really pushing it.
<_< Seriously, she had a lot of nerve. I wished I could have said something more to her after she gave me that "You're speaking to your betters" line. I wanted the option to interrupt and give her a piece of my mind.
It would have been cool if when you choose to fight back when she tries to arrest you, she tries to talk to you right when her health is almost gone (like what sometimes happens with other fights). You could get the option to spare her, gloat, mock her, taunt her, etc, muahah.
Sorry I just really didn't like it when she snapped at me about 'my betters'.

And how!
Oh my second play through I had max persuasion and managed to get her to stand down. Just wasn't as satisfiying after that 'your betters are speaking' comment, so I reloaded and picked a fight instead.

Yes she comes across as either wilfully blind or a hypocrite.
I also thought it a bit cheeky of her to use the "your betters" line - especially as playing a Human Noble. Technically at that point in the game you would have the rank of Tyern (despite Howe's snuffing out of your parents). First play through I was happy to lop off her head, but on subsequent playthroughs I have talked her down before the Landsmeet.
She's underutilised I think - she should have been given some part in the Denerim battle, maybe even some sort of sacrifice to redeem herself and her misplaced honour? I dunno.

Yes! My first playthrough was as a human noble and when she gave me that line I was thinking: "...Excuuuuse me? Oh this is not gonna fly."Stuffy38 wrote...
